  • Buy retirement property or invest $$$?

I am 32 and plan on retiring in 10 years with a pension. I found a beautiful piece of property with a river, woods and 60 acres tillable (80 acres total). There is also a nice home, a few decent barns and two silos on the property. Land like this is getting harder to come by. I currently have 120k in stocks, 30k in "SHTF savings" and have been maxing my ROTH out for years (not a clue how much is in it). The property is listed for 160K and I can afford to eat the 700 payment each month (estimated). Do I invest the 700 each month or buy the property of my dreams? I do own a rental property in Vegas and profit about 200 per month on that and have around 75K in equity.

  • Landlord asked me to leave mid-month?

I rent a place month-to-month without a written lease. I moved in, it is a roommate situation and I pay 550/month for everything. On the 23rd of this month she asked me to vacate the home ASAP because she can't stand my GF. I agreed and moved out today. She does not want to pay me back for the days in which I am not living in the home.

Am I entitled to the remander of my months rent since I am paid up until the 31st? It would be like 140 dollars which would be nice since I now am living with a friend until I can find a place. If it matters this took place in Clark County, NV.

I did not violate any laws or make a mess. I was quiet and she only asked me to leave because of my GF.

  • Girlfriend went out with a guyfriend?

Ok, where I am from this usually does not happen but I recently moved to Vegas for my job so....

Situation: GF went out with guy for dinner, drinks, movie. Happend more than once with this guy. They were alone. I have never met him. She is always txting when she is with me on "dates". After the "date" she calls me about 3 times, I was out playing pool with the guys. She called my roommate to check up on me.

Guys: You take a cute girl out to dinner and a movie, then do the same thing the following week. She has a BF (me) with pics of us up on facebook. After paying for dinner and a movie twice, are you just being a buddy or are you expecting something (I know I would at least think there is a chance). She is flirtatious, pretty but overall trustworthy.

Girls: She told me she didn't invite me because "I wouldn't like him". She has been out with guys plenty of times to the bar etc and that does not bother me at all...At first she said she was going out with a "few friends". She later slipped and said it was just her and the other guy. He paid and picked her up from her house.

Just something about a guy buying dinner/drinks/movie that seems more like a "date" than a friends thing. I know I will buy my female friends a drink but usually not dinner/movie. I haven't said anything to her yet and we have been happy. Am I over reacting or is she kinda a hoe? She is younger (24) so maybe thats more acceptable for younger girls??

  • Military Funeral Question?

    All,

I will be attending my first funeral in service dress. It is for a fallen Vietnam soldier friend of my dads that I knew my whole life growing up. Any etiquite other than the the standard saluting when: the hearse passes, while the casket is being moved, during the gun salute, while Taps is being played, when the casket is being lowered into the ground. Obviosuly my uniform is dry cleaned and looks very professional and still fits well (just graduated OCS a year ago). I just don't want to FUBAR this up and I am not sure if I will be the only one in uniform.

Thanks in advance for all the help.

  • Navy uniform regs, blue t-shirt?

All, I am currently OCONUS and was stopped by a chief for wearing a blue t-shirt onbase during off-duty hours. I was in a pair of jeans. Obviously I understand this is unsat to wear offbase for ATFP reasons but what about just walking to the NEX and it was not my duty day. I did oblige and go change into a regular shirt. Question is: is this actually a reg? If so please shoot me a reference. To the best of my knowledge is it only an ATFP regulation and I can not find it in my uniform regs. I also have called this chief out for uniform discrepancies (cover on while in NEX) so he may just have something against me. Thanks in advance!

  • NATO Medal, Operation Unified Protector?

I mobilized in support of OUP. A few guys around here are saying we get NATO Medal, a few aren't sure. We meet all other criteria (over 30 days, etc...) We are in direct support of OUP. I am not disclosing base/duty for OPSEC. Yes, call me a ribbon chaser all you want but I would like a serious answer.

  • Thinking about buying an airplane: Cost question.?

Thanks in advance for reasonable answers!

I am looking at buying a single engine aircraft. Right now looking at a C152 aerobat or something in the Vans RV6/7 line. Something with reasonable performance and economical. I know what I want to spend/can afford and have seen many good prospects on barnstormers.com

My question is: how much does it cost to upkeep an aircraft? Insurance, anuals, TBO, tires, hanger fees, etc. Obviously I can figure out fuel costs at 6gal/hr. Also, I was an aircraft mechanic in the air force for 7+ years. Could I do routine oil changes and other minor maintenance, or are these required to be signed off by an A&P?

  • What happens if my truck is overweight?

My job authorized me to move 10,000 lbs of stuff and I am pretty sure I can fit 10,000 lbs in the Penske truck I rented. Problem is that the truck says it can only hold 8,000 lbs. What will happen when I weigh the truck (I have to get an empty and a full weight to get compensated for my move) and it is overweight. I will be weighing the truck in Battle Creek MI. This is the largest truck Penske offers. Thanks!

  • O1-E Rank question, regarding TIS/Points?

Im an enlisted member serving in the Air Guard and was selected for active duty OCS. I have around 1420 points right now and the cutoff for OE pay is 1460. I know I am considered an E-5 in OCS and since OCS is 13 weeks that would for sure put me over the 1460 points range if that time counts...I have asked my MPF and Finance office and neither of them know. I wish I could just get the other 40 points before I go to OCS but our base is hurting right now for man days since we lost our mission. Thanks!!!
