  • Manipulating a text file in Java?

I'm trying to make a program that reads in an outside .txt file and manipulates it. The file has 5 different groups of data, 4 lines each (2 are int, 2 string). I need to read in the file using the Scanner class, Make an object to hold each group of data (write a class which stores the data group as a single object (lets call it ProgramData)). Then I need to create a ProgamData object and put that into an ArrayList, and repeat for each of the 5 groups.

I have a text file, and I read it in with the Scanner (I confirmed that I did this right through printing on teh command line). I'm completely lost from there. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

  • Jobs for a college student?

I'm in college at the moment, and I need a job for the summer and next year. I'm a Business Management major with a concentration in Information Systems. So basically I work with computers. Ideally I would get an internship in my field but most do not pay so that is out of the equation for the time being.

I am experienced in retail. However I do not want to go back to another dead end cashier job. Working at school is possible but I would only get 10 hours a week, and gas costs alone would take up more than half of my paycheck.

Does anyone have any good ideas as to what I can do? Thanks in advance.

  • How long until I get my e-filed tax refund?

I e-filed through turbotax on Friday. It is a relatively simple return, no deductions or anything like that. Turbotax says it will be deposited to my checking account the 13th at the earliest, but I don't remember it taking that long in previous years. Seeing as it's earlier in the tax season, does it really take that long to get my federal and state refund? Thanks for your answers.

  • How to actually sell items on Craigslist?

I've been trying to sell a few guitars on Craigslist for about a week now. One person said he was interested and then stopped contacting me. I really could use some extra cash for the holidays and was looking to list more items, but I'm having a hard time selling the ones that I have already listed. I put the maximum 8 pictures, I'm very descriptive about the product, I use an eye-catching title, and nothing is working. So anyway my questions are...

How long does it usually take to sell an item?

Can you sell small items, things that are worth 5-10 dollars (make the sale not just list)? .

Any tips for making a quick and easy sale?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

  • Ipod touch apps keep crashing?

My Ipod used to "crash" (exiting to the home screen) every once in a while when trying to load videos. Now it crashes when trying to use Itunes, the App Store, Youtube, and Safari. The app either crashes right away or in less than a minute. Videos won't load either (this movie cannot be played), even when I can get to them. As far as I know the other apps are working fine. Tried a regular reset and a hard reset and it didn't work.

My Ipod is 2nd gen, IOS version 4.2.1. Any ideas on how to fix this? I'd rather not have to restore unless it is a last resort. Thanks in advance.

  • Can I exclude a job from my resume?

    Will they find out?

I was a gas station cashier last summer, and I'm a little embarrassed by it. However, the employment I had before that was also only for a few months and was in 2010 (I'm a college student).

Will they even care, considering I'll most likely be applying to similar retail jobs anyway?

  • How long should each cue card be for a speech?

I have a speech due next week for a class, and I always tend to bring a paper and read from it. Needless to say I get bad grades. I have this speech written and need to make flash cards. How long should each flash card be, and how many flashcards should I prepare for a five minute speech on a single specific topic? Thanks in advance for your answers.

  • Best cheap multieffects unit?

I'm trying to decide between a Digitech RP55, a Behringer V AMP and a Zoom G1XN multieffects pedal. Sort of leaning towards the digitech, except it doesn't have an expression pedal for the Wah, which I would like to use. Would you recommend any of these or another pedal that is a similar price? I'm an okay guitarist just looking to experiment with different effects, I would be using this through a 15 watt Fender amp. Thanks for your answers.

  • Corrupted external hard drive?

My brother plugged in my Seagate Freeagent Go external hard drive into his xbox 360 and corrupted all of my files. When I plug it into my laptop it shows that there are no files. I used the seagate recovery tool and it shows all the files that used to be there are available for recovery, but I don't want to pay them 99 dollars to recover. Is there any way I can do this for free, or for under 20 bucks?

  • can working around gasoline give you headaches?

Been working for a few days now in a mini mart and have had headaches after the last two shifts. I'm not sure if it's from dehydration (i'm gonna start bringing water to work), the bright lights, or the gas or gas vapors itself.

  • Is working at a gas station dangerous?

I just got offered a job at a gas station. It's the only place that's hiring for the summer and pretty much the only paying job I can get. The only problem is I'm afraid of getting robbed. It's not really in a dangerous area, but there have been a few robberies at similar stores in the same town the last few years. The place closes early, 10 pm I think, and it is on a somewhat busy road. I don't know for sure but there may be nights where I close by myself. Is it potentially dangerous or am I just being paranoid?

Also, are gas station bathrooms gross? I'm a bit OCD so I don't know if I could clean a really nasty one (is that part of the job?). Thanks for your answers.

  • How to get a short term retail position?

I'm taking a semester off from college and need a job. I went on an interview today and was asked how long I planned on working there (6 months). He did not like the answer and was clearly looking for a longer term employee. I feel as though this will happen in many interviews and they can easily get a longer term employee because the jobless pool is so huge.

Which retail positions or employers are more willing to hire short term employees? Or how can I answer the question in a way that puts the situation in a better light? Thanks for your answers.

  • Does applying online ever lead to jobs?

Obviously it leads to a job sometimes, but I've been applying online to different retail stores, restaurants, and other businesses for weeks and not one has called me. Not even Mcdonalds! Most of the places I applied to are hiring. I have work experience, open availability (taking semester off from college) and put together a solid resume too, the only downside is that I only have 1 professional reference.

So, is applying in person better? It is just more time consuming and wastes a lot of gas, especially if it leads to no jobs. Plus I never know what to say to the manager and come across as awkward, but I am actually a good, dependable worker. Any other tips for getting a job, even at Mcdonalds or something? Thanks for your answers.

  • How is the sims 3 compared to the previous games?

I have a $30 gamestop gift card, and was set to purchase another game, but this caught my eye (PC version). I have read mixed reviews though. I played the sims 2 awhile back, but just got bored of the nonlinear aspect of it and its repetitiveness. It felt more like work than playing a video game. Is the sims 3 the same way? I like the idea of a living neighborhood. Are there actual things to do in the neighborhood, or is it more of a gimmick? In other words, I don't want the game if it's more of the same thing, I am looking for something fresh.

Which game do you think is better? I have also read about the game being filled with glitches, is this true? I'm talking about the base games too, not the expansions. Thanks for your answers.

  • What is the easiest way to deposit on pokerstars?

I am in the U.S. and have not been able to deposit. I have tried several different sites and echecks or any of my debit cards (mastercard) do not work. Is there an easy way to get real money on there, or another poker site like full tilt or sportsbook? Thanks for your answers.

  • I hate living at college?

I was a freshman last year, and went to a small private school and had no friends, so I had a miserable time. I transferred to another school about 45 minutes away from my house. The only good friend I have made so far was with my roommate, but he dropped out and now I live in a single room within a suite. Now I am incredibly lonely and depressed and I am extremely homesick. I have two good friends who don't go to college back at home as well.

I am extremely shy and have a lot of social problems, stemming from the fact that I have been overweight all my life and was picked on in elementary school. I plan on working out at the gym this semester, but it's going to be hard to make myself go because I have nobody to go with. I hardly meet people because I hide in my room all day. I have little in common with my suitemates, even though we are friendly with each other, and I don't consider us friends becuase we never hang out or anything.

Now, I haven't told my parents the whole situation, but i have discussed with them the possibility of commuting next year (they know I'm miserable, I'm home many weekends during the semester). It is very saddening for me to see people having the time of their life at college, when it is the worst time for me.

    So these are my questions:

-How do I meet people and make friends in college? Going to club meetings mid-semester would be extremely awkward and I don't think I would fit in.

-What are the advantages of commuting? I have a reliable car that would get me here a few days a week no problem. I could still possibly make friends through this as well, and could still potentially have a college experience. I could also hang out with friends at home and get a job. I would also save a lot of money because I am paying a ridiculous amount (12k/year) for a dorm room and meal plan.

Thank you for your patience for reading this, it means a lot to me.

  • Minor car problems on 04 Chevy Impala?

I have an 04 Chevy Impala that has been having some minor issues lately. I just wanted to ask about them here before I take it to the shop to see if I can fix anything myself. So the issues I've been having are:

1 - Water appearing on passenger side floor (not because of rain), I researched and it might be a blocked ac drain.

2 - Car makes a squeaking noise sometimes when I drive over 70 mph on the highway. Could it be the wheels?

3 - Steering wheel makes a squeaking noise when turning at low speeds (like in parking lots)

4 - Headlight switch that changes it from normal to highbeam doesn't work

So, are there any fixes for these that I can do myself? Thanks for your answers.

  • Contacts and all kinds of eyedrops make eyes red?

I started wearing contacts at the beginning of september. The first few weeks were great, but all of a sudden my eyes started to get red whenever I put my contacts in. I thought it might have been the solution that I was using (opti free), so the doctor suggested that I switch to the clear care system, and the same thing happened. Now I started using allergy eyedrops that were recommended by the doctor (thinking it was allergies), but these make my eyes red as well. The redness is the worst when I put the drops/contacts in, and it gradually fades after a minute or so, but my eyes are starting to become permanently blood shot. I haven't worn my contacts for weeks, but it is still doing the same thing. I accidentally fell asleep with the contacts on for a couple of hours one time, could this have caused the problem?

What could be causing this? Thanks in advance for your answers.
