  • Opinions on run flat tires?

Except for the Ms, all of the new BMWs have run flat tires. And no spare. What are people's opinions of this? I think the run flats have a harsh ride, easily damaged - hit a pot hole, bust the side wall belts, and hard to keep balanced. I also heard they cannot be repaired or at least, they are hard to repair and usually have to be replaced. For about $30 a month, BMW will insure them, but it makes me wonder about the resell value of a new car.

  • Do I have to show up for my Virginia Reckless Driving summons?

I was pulled over for doing 80 in a 55 zone in Virginia. The trooper wrote me up for reckless driving and said I had to show up in court. I live about 500 miles away from Virginia. I saw a ton of ads on the web for Attorneys to represent me in court and possibly get the charge reduced. But I was thinking, what if I decide to ignore the summons? Can it have negative repercussions in my home state? Can it lead to my drivers license in my home state getting suspended?

I think the law in Virginia and the enforcement of the law is targeted at out of staters. I'll never set foot in Virginia or buy anything made in the state again.

  • Which is better: Slacker or Pandora?

I've been using Pandora and like it. Was wondering if it was worth the effort (granted, it's minimal) to sign up with Slacker. Any opinions?

  • Exhaust fumes inside my 2004 BWM 330 XI?

It snowed yesterday. I cleaned the snow from my car, but there was a bit of a pile at the base of the windshield. I always have the AC on, even in the winter. I'm dring down the street when the heater kicks on. I immediately noticed a smell. At first, I thought it was coming from the car in front of me and I turned the air filter on. No improvement. I got a little light headed and turned the heater off and opened the windows. It was definitely carbon monoxide and I'm still feeling the effects.

I've never experienced this before. When I got to work, I removed the snow from the base of the windshield. Any ideas of what happened?

  • How does acute stress impact Type I diabetes?

I have a dog with Type I diabetes. He gets insulin twice a day, soon after meals, which are 12 hours a part. I am trying to understand how acute stress impacts his need for insulin. If he is in a very stressful situation, will his blood Glucose levels rise? And what will happen when the source of the stress is removed? I am assuming that the stress makes his glucose levels rise. If correct, should I exercise him once the cause of the stress has been removed?

  • Why weren't there any calls for the torturing of Tim McVeigh?

For those of you that don't remember, Tim McVeigh was the domestic terrorist that bombed the Federal Building in Oklahoma City. He killed 168 people, including retirees visiting the Social Security Office located in the building as little babies that were in the buildings nursery. He knew that the babies would be killed. And in addition to those that he killed, many times more were injured, buried under rumble, maimed for life and others were left fatherless and motherless.

People had parts of their faces sliced off by falling glass.

If there was ever a person that deserved to die a slow painful death, it was Tim McVeigh. And while he was executed after he put a stop to the appeals process, he was never tortured during questioning in an effort to give up the names of others who took part in the bombing.

Where were the calls for torturing McVeigh?

  • Any suggestions for treats for dogs on a Raw diet?

I am training my dogs using treats. Both dogs are on a Raw diet. I would prefer not using raw food as the training treat, they are too messy and you run into the whole bacteria thing. I would like to feed the dogs about 1/2 of their total food intake in the form of rewards during the training.

    Any suggestions?

  • Is the clutch on my 2004 330XI going?

How can I tell if my clutch is going? It feels like I have to let the clutch peddle almost completely out before the clutch disengages. Is there a technique that I can use to be sure?

The car has less than 45,000 so it seems a little early for the clutch to be going. I had my 96 328 for 70,000 miles and never needed a new clutch.

  • What media bias in the election?

I keep hearing about the liberal media and how the media has a bias towards Obama. I'm sorry, I just don't see it. Is it media bias when the media is pointing out that one of the politicians is making a false statement? Is it media bias when the the media focuses on the unknown politician? Is it media bias when the media points out the calling Obama a socialist/marxist is ridiculous? Is it media bias when the media doesn't accept everything a politican is saying.

There are 2 24 hour Fox News stations that are pro McCain. CNN is biased towards McCain. MSNBC is left leaning. CBS and ABC tend to lean towards the right and NBC leans to the left. That's 73 hours of Right wing News on TV versus 24.5 hours for left leaning news coverage.Talk Radio is owned by the right wing. NPR is left leaning. The NY Times is left leaning while the Wall Street Journal is right wing. The Chicago Trib is right leaning. The Washington Post leans left. In 2004, Newspaper endorsed Kerry and Bush in nearly equal numbers.

So where is the liberal media? Just because a newspaper prints the truth and the truth is counter to what the republican says doesn;t make it liberal.

  • Isn't it sad that some people think Powell is backing Obama because they are both black?

I think it's sad that so many people think that Powell endorsed Obama solely because both are black. Powell went point by point why he feels Obama is the right person, yet so many people want to attribute it to race. So sad.

  • What do the PUMAs want?

I read there are a number of Hillary supporters who are organizing against Obama. I read statements from them about sexism and gender bias in the election. They say Obama is too young and inexperienced to be President even though Obama will be the same age as when Bill Clinton became President and he will have more "Washington" experience. Can someone give examples of sexism and gender bias by Obama in this election?

  • What are the tire options for a 2004 330XI with the sports package?

The stock tire is the 205/50VR17. It is a runflat tire that costs about $250 a tire. The tread lasts about 30,000 miles but I have to replace 2 tires because they have a bulge on the side (probably from hitting a pot hole). Has anyone used the Michelin Pilot Sport or Pilot Exalto?

  • Question about air travel with a dog?

In order for a dog to travel in the cabin of the plane, most of the air lines require that the dog be able to stand in their carrier, at least that's what they say on their web sites. My dog would be able to move around and turn, but it's a little too tall to fully stand in the carrier. How carefully do the airlines check to see that "standing" requirment is met?

I have to take this dog with me and he has to fly in the cabin. He's diabetic and very sensitive. If I leave him in a kennel, he won't eat. And I'm afraid that if I check him, he would just freak out.
