I have this acer aspire 5253 laptop. Trying to reset bios on this one. I found CMOS battery underneath panel and removed cmos battery. But still unable to reset bios. Could anybody please help me in that if we have any jumpers i need to short to reset bios on this model ?

What are encrypted files and how do we know which files are encrypted and which are not. When anybody forget the password and we need to remove the password , would it affect encrypted files in anyway ??

Is their any way we can make any file encrypted or decrypt any file ??

I am trying to assemble a server for first time. please let me know what exactly do i need for this and what are the different option do i have.

I am looking for server with following details

1) 10 sata hard drives of 250GB each

2) Another server with same specification (for 1st server exact backup) and want to network them with each other

please let me know (please bear with me if any question seems stupid !!! )

1) what kind of software i would need for this.

2) how can i do networking between these two servers

3) which server case would be appropriate ?

4) how much and what kind of ram memory would be sufficient ?

5) what other components do i need ?

please send me any useful links which describe how to assemble one ..

i have this windows 2000 OS in my hard drive, have certain application which i cant afford to loose and which works only with windows 2000 OS. now one of the system files got corrupted its showing this message

\winnt\system32\config\systemced is missing or corrupt

i have windows 2000 cd with me but whenver i try to run this cd, it never ask me for any repair or recovery console option only option available are create partition, delete partition and exit ..

could anybody please tell me if i can try anything in this situation to run my system again

I have this problem installing SIS7012 audio drivers

i have tried installing it from almost all sources..

1) From sis website

3) i even tried realtek and soundmax drivers too

5) i have checked in BIOS, on board audio is enabled in there

6) everytime i tried to install sis 7012 audio driver it came back with this message with a nice big red X and this number in the box -536870397

click ok and it tells me it has failed to install audio driver etc

7) i have tried from motherboard wensite too .. motherboard is ECS 761-M754 but no success

8) when i tried to download realtek drivers it come back with blue screen stop error so i have to restore my system to earlier time.

I have tried so much stuff already so i m not sure if i m missing something here ..

Problem : no sound

please note : this is fresh windows XP home installation.

what have i tried so far

1) checked in device manager, there is no yellow mark on sound device controller

2) installed drivers from dell websie for optiplex GX620 but it came back with error message " drivers are not compatible with computer hardware"

3) updated BIOS to latest version available for this system on dell website

4) cant's uninstall sound devices on device manager so i could not do that.

please let me know if i can try anything else ?

Okay I have this radeon 9700 128 M video card, I am trying to put it in old dell computer.

1) is it possible can I hook up this video card in this desktop?

2) This video card has one connector which says JU2 , which is 4 pin connector like floppy drive power connector , what do I need this connector for? Can I run my video card even without connecting anything with this connector?

I have this problem with my Gateway T5056 desktop which had originally windows XP media center edition 2005 in it. I planned to upgrade it to vista home basic. So I checked with windows vista upgrade advisor and everything was good to go.

Every thing went well, all devices are working fine. But the only problem I am facing here is during startup. After passing BIOS screen its reaching at regular Microsoft Vista green bar moving and its not going anywhere after that. Sometimes it works okay but most of the time I have to forced shutdown it and select Last good known configuration and sometimes it worked from there.

Have anybody else got this problem too after upgrading to vista? Please suggest ?

just want to mention here its brand new installation after formatting hard drive completely. I reset BIOS setting to defaults already too but did't help ..

I have a question regarding creating image with Acronis disk image. When we make image with this software so what exactly does it make. Would it make image for all the softares too. I want to save my MS office software and Labelview software beacause i dont have its setup disk any more. AFter creating image do i still need to install windows in new hard drive or it will only save documents .

I am trying to set up a Swann Surveillance (Security) system with my computer. I have 4 computers (3 desktop + 1 laptop) in total on my location. Primary computer ( Cashier Till) is connected with D link Router with Ethernet cable. Other 2 desktop computers and laptop are connected wirelessly with D link router. So this is the whole set up of computers. All desktop computers have windows XP professional in it but laptop have windows vista home premium in it

My ISP is already charging me for 2 IP addresses. Now I need another one for my security system DVR. I don’t want to spend too much money on it but I want to view it remotely. Somebody suggested me about dynDNS.com but I don’t know how this thing works with dlink routers . Could anybody please tell me the procedure how can I set it up for my whole network so that I can watch my DVR remotely without spending any extra money on it. Sorry for being so cheap but I already spent too much money on whole system and especially at this time of recession even single penny counts.

I am trying to install windows media center edition 2005 in my fresh installed hard disk. I have 2 installation discs for windows media center 2005. So I started with my first disk, everything went well and it asked me for my 2nd disc. It went well too but problem started when all of a sudden it asked me for windows professional with SP2. so after few seconds of running with windows professional SP2 disc, it says its not copying wmlaunch files and asking me , if I know the location. So I checked every single folder by browsing the disc when it asked for this file. But I could’t find it anywhere. I tried with another pair of windows media center edition 2005 discs and with another win pro sp2 disc but still same problem exists.

Please suggest me something what I can do in this situation.

okay my old hitachi travelstar IDE notebook hard drive was showing SMART failure so i decided to replace it with brand new Samsung IDE hard drive. Both hard drives are exactly same. but when i put old hard drive i can see my CD room in my boot menu and able to boot it with my windows installation disc in same CD ROM. but when i add my new hard drive, i am unable to see my cd-rom in boot list and unable to boot it with same installation disc

please help ??

So I have attached my security system to one of my desktop computer in my back room. I have downloaded the program which came with this system. I can easily watch everything on that computer. My problem is, if I want to view it from my home on my laptop, I could not.

I have talked to my ISP (Telus), they provided me 2 static IP addresses for my location. They are asking for more money if I want more than 2 static IP addresses

Question : My questions are ,

1) Do I actually need static IP addresses to view it remotely or I can set it on dynamic too?

2) Is my ISP suppose to ask for more money if they are providing me more than 2 static IP addresses?

3) Can’t I set Static IP addresses by myself , if yes, how ??

I have this windows 2000 professional 1-2CPU edition in my computer .. I don’t know what this 1-2CPU means but I just found it on product key sticker on side panel. I am running a CNC software which unfortunately runs only on this OS. I have system/config/system file corrupt or missing. Its just asking me to repair this file by choosing ‘r’ option after entering the original windows 2000 professional disk but unfortunately I don’t have this disk with me now. Do I have any other option I can try? Can I use windows XP professional with SP1 instead of this. Please help me its very important for me.

Hello Guys,

so this time i formatted my Pc and reinstalled new windows in it. After one week it just stuck at advance option screen. i tried all option safe mode, safe mode with networking etc. but when i pressed enter nothing happened

so i tried to repair system files through recovery console and with the help of windows XP cd. so when i tried first with windows XP cd, on reaching before windows aggrement BSOD appears with pfn_list_corrupt msg

so i tried to repair it in recovery console and i am able to pass that BSOD screen but now it comes with another error

following is the error

Issas.exe- system error

when trying to update password , this returns status indicates that the value provided as the current password is not correct

i tried all F8 options but even on safe mode its showing same thing. any other suggestions how can i fix it.

I am trying to connect 2 hard drives as Master-Slave, but for some reason its not working. Please help me out in this. I want Seagate IDE 160 GB as Master Hard drive and WD IDE 80 GB as slave drive. I connected one side of ribbon cable to my motherboard and another side to my master hard drive and middle connector to my slave hard drive. I changed jumper settings. On Seagate Master hard drive I have 3 options printed on it first says master=on, slave=off, another says cable select and last one says drive limit to 32 GB. So I tried both 1st and 2nd option but did’t work. Then I tried middle connector of my ribbon cable to master hard drive and other connector to slave hard drive. Then it detects my master hard drive but not slave. I tried replacing ribbon cable to make sure there is nothing wrong in it but got same with other ribbon cable. For all these test I set up jumper on WD slave hard drive on slave option printed on WD hard drive.

But still I am unable to see my slave hard drive. Could you please tell me if I m doing something wrong here or any other suggestion how can I try it.

Please let me know if there is any other way i can retrieve data from my slave drive?

1) Can we use readyboost option with a secondry hard drive too instead of usb flash drive?

2) can we exceed the ram memory range greater than moterboard ram limit with readyboost ? e.g. if the motherboard can suppport upto 2 GB can we increase ram size upto 4gb with a 4 gb flash drive

3) can we use readyboost option in windows XP too

4) what is ready drive option in vista ?

What are the things we need to consider before buying a graphics or video card ? does it have to do anything with power supply output and motherboard ? Any other factors we need to consider please tell me in details.
