  • What is the role of mitochondria in the pre-synaptic knob?

    In a recently practise exam paper given to me, we were asked to provide two answers for this question. My immediate answer was it facilited the energy required for the re-synthesis of Acetylcholine from it's two substances after breakdown by Acetylcholinestrase and diffision back into the pre-synaptic knob.

    However, having looked through the various textbooks and internet, I can't find a second reason to why mitochondria exsists in the pre-synaptic knob!

    Any suggestions or ideas?

  • Two questions of Polymerisation of Alkenes?

    I'm doing some reseach, and I'm having trouble trying to find the answers to the following questions. These are A-Level Standard, so those of you under 16 won't know the answers - please only answer if you are an expert in this area!

    What is the empirical formula, with reason, of polypropene (I think it is C3H6!)

    and

    "Suggest why polypropene does not have a sharp melting temperature, but softens over a range of temperature"
