  • Should felons receive government assistance?

Why or why not. Try and answer both sides if you can. More than a yes or no would be great.

  • Do you think felons should be able to receive government assistance? ?

Things such as housing, welfare, food stamps. Not just drug or violent offenders, all felons. Pro's and con's

Drug (except possession) and violent felons do not get aid of any kind (in california) Didn't they receive rehabilation while they were in prison (in theory) Why do they have to continue to be a burden on our society. I understand that all people have rights, but while you are on parole or probation as a felon you lose those rights. It is in this time that I am wondering, should they receive the benefits from the government. This is the same government whose rules they could not follow.

also, think of this in terms of social, moral, political, economic, and legal aspects. What are some reasons they should not get government aid.

Remember, drug (except possession) and violent offenders DO NOT GET AID IN CALIFORNIA. This is already in place. Why do you think the government imposed that restriction.

  • Need help with an assignment. I am just starting this class and it is a bit to see what we know. ?

    1. Identify all of the possible problems that could possibly be dealt with as a social worker working with the parties, etc. on this case. Suggest problems that might be going on that aren’t obvious.

    2. Select one of the problems (we will assume the parties you are working with agreed that this is the problem they want help with for now), and describe what social work skills (go back to our first few chapters/lecture notes) would be needed to work on the problem with the parties involved. Choose at least 3 social work skills.

    3. Also, define what your goal would be in working with the parties involved. Assume that this is a goal that has been mutually identified by you, as the social worker, and the parties involved.

    4. Based on some of the resources listed in the text and ones we discussed in class (and perhaps others that you are aware of), discuss which ones (or one) that you might refer these parties to.

    5. Also, identify what level of social work you are using---micro, mezzo, or macro. You might have more than one.

    6. Identify several social work values that you would also use in working with your situation and why they are important.

    HERE IS THE CASE

Jane is 13 years old and has been coming home later and later from school. She lives with a single parent, her mom, who has to work 3 jobs to make ends meet. Subsequently, her mom is usually not home, but finds out Jane is coming home late from a neighbor who was asked to check up on Jane after school. The neighbor is a middle –aged man who just moved into the neighborhood. Jane and her mom don’t have many friends, having recently moved into the neighborhood themselves over a month ago.

Jane has been text messaging a “very good friend of mine, Katie.” She is someone that Jane just loves to talk to. Jane is referred to you, the social worker, by the school psychologist who recently saw her for some testing. The referral is that Jane might need “someone to talk to.” The psychologist is fairly sure that she has Attention Deficient Disorder, just now diagnosed.
