  • Travel in Greece - Money Question?

My mother, a spritely 75 year old lady, is traveling to Greece next week with a much younger lady (74). In order to see the sites, they will need money.

They have been told that credit card/ATMs are secure, but the problem is that with credit card fraud, card companies are quick to cancel cards (cannot reach cardholder, etc), or not approve transactions where they are concerned with possibility of fraud. So ... it would do no good (they are told) to rely on use of credit cards and ATM machines.

Next option: Travelers checques. These are great ... if you can find a place to cash them, which can be difficult in more remote areas.

American Dollars: Fine, except there is the security threat of losing cash etc.

So ... any suggestions on best way to travel through greece (a cash country, they are told) would be apprciated.

  • Wireless Internet Reception - What Can I Do?

Daughter is in the army. She purchased a new computer with an "N-USB" receiver (or something like that, this is a dad asking - so use imagination). There are wireless signals in other parts of the base, but they cannot be received (to weak) at the baracks.

Is there some sort of "receiver" that can be purchased that boosts the ability to capture these wireless signals? Free wireless is around (I know she won't be able to get into the secure areas), but we need to figure out what she should order. Also, if you can provide a couple of on-line purchase locations (we are confident these wont be available through PX), that would be a big help.

  • Can an officer be held liable for signing and delivering bad corporate check?

I need citation to any state statute, article, or other authority and can take it from there. Your conclusion is not as helpful as pointing me in the right direction. This is not a homework assignment.

Facts: Officer of corproation signs and delivers a check he knows is a bad check. Check is dishonored. Corporation (meanwhile) gets sold for less than secured debt, leaving no assets to pursue. Can the officer or director who signed and delivered the corporate check be held directly liable for issuance of bad check, or is this strictly a corporate debt for which officer's action is shielded (unless corporate veil can be pierced)

    Thanks!

  • If child relocates, does the child support law of new state, or of state where divorce occurs, control?

Divorce in Florida. Child moves to Wisconsin. No modification in years, although non-custodial parent (who never sees the child) income has gone up substantially. Must mother make motion in Florida, or can she move to modify support in Wisconsin. Please, no guesses.

  • Post-Divorce issue: Living in Florida, how do I get court approval to move with minor child?

Wife gets offered a job out of Florida. Husband gets notice, files objection. What additional documents and/or forms need to be filed. PLEASE provide website, or legal site. (Promise, I have looked, and am having difficulty).

(Wife had not expected an objection, as Husband had not exercised visitation in over a year. Wife remains unmarried. Wife knows she will win, but now needs to get into court ... fast. She can do it pro se, and does not have the money for a lawyer, BUT she needs the forms).

Current thinking is Motion to Modify Custody/Visitation order; Motion for expedited hearing. These however would be cobbled up from scratch unless you can help.

  • Dodge Stratus - Manual Transmission - Where do I check fluid?

I own a 1999 Dodge Stratus, 5 speed manual. I need to check the transmission fluid. I found the normal stuff (auto steering, brake, oil), but cannot locate the transmission fluid. I am hoping that a simply problem is causing the car to (shifter) to pop out of 3rd and 5th. It stays in and runs well when I hold it in.

  • 1997 Saturn Head Gasket - Recall?

My son, bless his heart, owns a 1997 Saturn SL. He noticed oil in the antifreeze, so he recognized that it was probably a head gasket. Being an industrious sort, he removed the head and took it in to be machined (always a good idea). The folks at the shop told him that 1997 Saturns had a known problem with cracked cylinder heads, and that they would test it for him.

If it fails the pressure test, and this is a known problem, there may be a chance for Saturn to replace the head (my theory). How would we go about finding whether there has been a recall and how to get my poor, but industrious son, back on the road again?

    THANKS!

  • How would I find a survey or listing of average hourly rates for attorneys in Utah or its region?

I am really not as interested in an estimate as to how to search for this information. I have looked for some time. I know nlj did a survey, but had problems registering for their results (registration being repaired, etc.), but need this information as soon as possible. (This is for civil litigation - defense).

  • Saturn Manual Clutch Issue - UPDATE?

Son let me use his SL2 (5 speed), 1997, appx 100k miles. He knew there were problems with getting the car into reverse. The car was driven with a total (including stop signs) of 10 stops, 100 miles, almost all in 5th gear. I did not ever grind gears, etc., but now there are big problems - clutch won't go into first gear; pedal goes almost to the floor. Issues: could dad have caused this (assume facts are honestly given), and more important, what is probably the problem? Could it be something easy? Is it transmission? Clutch? Help. (Obviously, if dad caused the problem he will need to fix it, if not, well, we still need to get it fixed.)

I HAVE CHECKED THE FLUID AND IT SURE SEEMS FULL ... OR DO I HAVE TO CHECK WITH ENGINE RUNNING? IN ANY EVENT< WITH ENGINE OFF< FLUID LEVEL LOOKS GOOD. (Could this be air in lines, something simple?)

    Thanks in advance.

  • Do Canadian Courts allow Motions in Limine?

In the US, a party may bring a motion to exclude (or, more rarely allow) evidence proffered by another party. It is done in writing, before trial, with points and authorities. This allows the parties to receive a ruling (where appropriate) before trial as to whether proferred evidence will be admitted. (Sometimes courts will defer until they hear the other evidence, and sometimes they will issue a ruling, in limine, excluding or allowing the evidence). Such a rule prevents arguing evidentiary points during trial (although there will always be some exceptions).

Do Canadian courts allow such a procedure (where is authority found, if you know ...

(Trial with new canadian attorney -- first jury trial -- in two weeks. US attorney assisting. Canadian attorney does not know whether this is permitted). Thanks

  • Son Needs Great (Fictional) Stock Pick?

My son is in high school, and is in virtual stock competition. Not understanding the short time frame, he invested in several long-term growth stocks. Now, with less than 90 days to go, its boom or bust. Might as well bust. He needs an idea for a stock costing at least $2.00 that has a chance for explosive growth over the next 3 months. Since long term growth is not a reasonable option, any ideas for a "penny stock" (at least $2.00) that can explode!!!!

(I have told him that this is not the way to invest, but now it is about winning. And sometimes, the best research is to ask someone who knows -- the YAHOO COMMUNITY!!!!)
