  • How can I fix an SNES with reverse-current damage?

I accidentally plugged in a cheap-o AC adapter of the correct voltage and amperage "backwards" (wrong polarity) into an SNES, and now it's shot. I suspect it's a problem caused by a diode, since there is no indication power is getting to anything inside.

I'd like to do the repairs myself, unless it's a major chip frying. This particular SNES has a ton of sentimental value, and is mentally irreplaceable.

  • Cannot start X server (Window system) on Fedora with a Radeon X1650 Pro?

I cannot start yhe X server (grapical system) in Fedora 7 (moonshine core) using a Radeon X1650 Pro.

The probable cause is it is using the secondary driver (used for driving the second monitor) rather than the primary driver. How can I instruct Fedora to use the primary driver instead if this is the cause? I don't mind having to reinstall.

  • Is a simulator (like RealFlight) a good way to get into RC planes/helis?

I'm just wondering if a RC simulator is a good way to get into the hobby of RC planes/helis... Should I buy the ever-expensive RealFlight G3.5, FS-one, or other software instead of a model to start? I have FMS, and drive a hobby-grade RC truck.

If you want to recommend a model in your answer, go ahead!

  • Is it safe to remove the "ejector" tabs off RAM slots?

I bought a video card that won't fit in my computer unless I remove the little tabs often used to remove RAM from the slot. I need to remove one of them from all of my RAM slots to get my video card to fit. Is it safe? I DO NOT need to remove the tabs on the other side of the RAM, nor remove the tab on the video card slot. No connector pins are going to be removed.

  • Is it possible to convert an original XMODS' electronics to hobby grade?

I am looking at an on-road R/C car, and I was wondering if I can convert the RadioShack XMODS electronics to hobby-grade micro size. I know I probably will have to continue to use RadioShack motors, however.

If you want to know what I'm talking about, these are parts you buy at hobby shops, and mail-order/online stores like tower hobbies.

I have a good estimation I could use a Hitec HS-55, Novak Spy Micro ESC, and a receiver of some sort, like a Novak XXL or Futaba R142JE on its side to fit the old control board's tight space.

  • What brushless motor sould I put in my Evader ST pro RC truck?

I have an Evader ST Pro, and I'm wondering what brushless motor to put in it. I've heard that the Novak SS5800 can work without wrecking the transmission even when the slipper is set up to do wheelies, but the Velociti 5.5 destroys the transmission every time you use it. Which Novak Velociti, SS, or Reedy Neo should I use?

  • Is it OK to drive a nitro RC truck on a damp surface?

I am looking for a nitro model to drive when it's damp (eg. after it rains) because I can't drive my electric truck in those conditions. I will usually run it off of a lot of jumps (at the local offroad track). I currently drive a DuraTrax Evader ST Pro.

  • Can a PC power supply be used as a hobby power supply without modding?

My PC's power supply says it supplies DC -12V 14A. Can I use this power supply without modding? I know I can combine all the yellow (-12V) and black (Ground) cords together to make this possible.

To be precise, this is a Bestec 250W power supply I am using.

  • Windows Vista key problems?

I am having trouble with Windows Vista. I just need 1 key, but every time I view it I can't save it, and it's a different key. I'm up to the point where the Microsoft server thinks I want more than 3 keys, so it won't let me view keys anymore, but I just need the 1! Can someone tell me how to retrieve the key? (I know web browser History doesn't work)
