  • Americans with Disabilities Act - Employer's inquiry too detailed?

I asked our HR manager what the policy was regarding notifing the company of my disability and need for accomidation. She said, "We require a written statement from a doctor that includes what the condition is of the employee and what and why they are recommending an accommodation. We will then determine if the disability is qualified and if the accomodation is reasonable." This seems to violate the ADA in Section 102 Part D4 which says, "A covered entity shall not ... make inquiries of an employee as to whether such employee is an individual with a disability or as to the nature or severity of the disability, unless such examination or inquiry is shown to be job related and consistent with business necessity."

So do I have to have my doctor give them an explaination of everything? Can't I just have my doctor say that I have a condition that requires intermittent time off work? Are they allowed to judge whether or not my disability is bad enough to let me have time from work?

  • Can US citizens have a wedding in China?

I would like to have my wedding in Guilin. I'm not sure if this would be possible. What documents would I have to bring? Who could I make arrangements with? Anything else would be helpful too.
