  • How do I add internal USB connections?

I'm building a PC for the first time, and I'm not sure if I goofed on the Motherboard/Case combo. The Motherboard has 4 external USB 2.0 ports, and 2 USB headers. The case has 2 front panel USB 2.0 ports, each with its own plug. That pretty much maxes my USB port and/or USB-powered device potential so far as I can see.

I still want to add a USB add-on card to the rear I/O (has to be a PCI-Express add-on) and I have an internal USB-powered card reader that requires two USB headers on the Motherboard.

What should I do to expand both the number of external USB ports as well as the accommodate the internal USB-powered devices? I've seen PCI-Express USB 2.0 add-ons that have an internal USB port, but that would only accommodate one of the two card reader plugs.. I also don't want to have the front panel ports disconnected and not working.

  • Should there be a feature to deduct points for useless answers?

Should such a feature exist, and how should it work? What kind of impact would you expect to see as a result?

I think users should be able to flag answers that are without value. Points should be deducted from the user for every xx times the answer is flagged as having no value. Askers should not be able to deduct the points with one flag, but an asker's flag might count for two or more users' flags, since the asker knows better than anyone if the answer held any value for them. Maybe it would have no impact, but it might cut back on some of the garbage posted on here.

Additionally, should Askers have an option to close their questions without choosing a "Best Answer" allowing voting? In other words, if the Asker felt the question received no answers worthy of the additional 10 points, should they have the option to close the question and stop those 10 points from being given to anyone?

  • Best way to get an NYC speeding citation dismissed?

I received a speeding ticket while traveling southbound on I-95, in the Bronx. The specific violation is "laser/speed in zone" for 71 in a 50. Traffic violations in NYC are handled by the Traffic Violations Bureau, rather than the regular court, and they're strictly win/lose - no plea bargaining, point reduction, etc.

I will fight the ticket regardless, but the problem is compounded by a prior conviction. I last received a similar citation in June 2005. I'd hired an attorney to represent me, but all that attorney seemed to do was postpone the court date for 16 months before it finally concluded with a conviction in October 2006. So, a citation from a year-and-a-half ago is now a prior conviction from just 3 months ago.

I'm seeking recommendations and referrals for effectively fighting this new citation and getting it dismissed. I want to hear from people who've had similar experiences and were successful, not advertisements or random links from Internet searches. Thanks.

  • Acceptable exposure for men?

Most people would agree that it would be inappropriate and in poor taste for a guy to deliberately show off his package in a professional or polite environment. It would be equivalent, I suppose, to a woman doing all she could to draw attention to her breasts.

But what about a guy who is so exceptionally well endowed that he has difficulty hiding it? Should he be expected to take additional precautions to hide the goods? Is it fair, for example, to expect him to wear briefs instead of boxers, or wear loose-fitting styles when they're not his preference?

Guys: would you want to be so big you had trouble hiding it, or would you prefer to be more average? Would you take extra precautions to hide your package if "regular" clothing couldn't conseal it very well?

  • Good information on starting a small business ...?

I'd like to start a small business, but I have absolutely no ideas or experience just how to go about it. I'd like to hear from successful small business owners who can point me in the direction of good resources related to all aspects of small business start-ups. I've done some Internet research and picked up a book on Small Business, but I'd really like to hear what worked for you.

    Thanks.

  • Office Etiquette: Multi-lingual Individuals?

English is the only language in which business is conducted in the office where I work. Of approximately 150 people, we have a few (literally, a few - 3 or 4, tops) who are bi-lingual - they also speak Spanish. As luck would have it, I share a quadrant (four cubicles arranged in a square with open space between our desks) with two of them.

It's a pet peeve of mine when they sit at their desks talk to each other in Spanish. They both speak perfect English, yet they choose to speak more Spanish than English - everything from casual conversation to business issues. They're within their rights to use the language of their choice, but I find it rude and unprofessional in this context.

In contrast, individuals are generally reprimanded for using "inappropriate language" because it is considered rude, unprofessional and offensive to others.

I'm curious to know how other people feel, from both sides.

  • Near-naked Bartenders?

Bartenders in some gay bars in NYC are dressed only in underwear - briefs, bikinis, things, etc. Is this legal?

If it is, why don't more bars do that? If it isn't, how are these places getting away with it on a regular basis?
