The figure (http://session.masteringphysics.com/problemAsset/1... ) shows the potential energy of a 700g particle as it moves along the x-axis. Suppose the particle's mechanical energy is 12 J.

Where are the particle's turning points? (I thought it was 1,2,4 but that is apparently wrong)

What is the particle's speed when it is at x = 2.0m?

What is the particle's maximum speed? At what position or positions does this occur?

(I'm not sure how to find these, since the potential energy is not given)

f -1(x)= inverse of f(x)

I tried using the points (2,3) and (-3,2) to find f-1 (x) and then find derivative of 1/ f -1(x), but that wouldn't work.

Please help.

Additional info: I graduated Summa *** Laude from High School. I have a 4.00 GPA, I am an Ambassador for my community college, I am a member of Multicultural Institute and am involved in community service. I am Asian, I want to be a doctor, I work 25 hrs a week. I turn 18 next January. I have four other siblings.

Please just give me key points that I should hit.

My teacher A was not available to give the test. Another teacher B administered it. My teacher usually gives us an extra hour outside of class, but B did not. As a result, there are six people in class, 4 of us did not finish the test. One finished, the other almost finished. The class is Cal II. I have had As on my other tests. But this one I did not do 4 problems. I need to email my teacher to convince him to let us finish the test. I can't see him, because school is closed until Monday.

What should I say in the email?

I have not taken the calc-based Mechanics. I took the algebra based Mechanics. I have taken Calc I and am taking Calc II, I have an A in both so far, so I have a good base in Calc.

It is important for me to maintain a 4.0 GPA. Should I take calc-based Electricity and Magnetism. Is there a good chance of me getting an A in it?

I will also be taking Organic Chem II and Calc III next semester.

I am quite happy with it. I get 8.80/hr on Sunday, and double pay on holidays. I received a job offer from the local library. It pays $8.76 as a starting point. I can only work 18 hrs/week. I will only have to work 3 days a week. Wouldn't work holidays so no extra pay. I fear the Wal-mart job is more interesting than library. But the library is a job for the local gov. Wal-mart also offers a 10% discount, and the guarantee that I can transfer to any Wal-mart in US if I move away.
