  • Need help with Physics problem?

A force with magnitude (5.00N/m^2)x^2 and directed at a constant angle of 31.0∘ with the + x axis acts on an object of mass 0.250 kg as the object moves parallel to the x-axis. There are no other forces on the object that have components parallel to the x axis.

    How fast is the object moving at x = 1.50 m if it has a speed of 4.00 m/s at x = 1.00 m?

Can someone give an explanation on how to do it?

  • Help with these word problems?

    The first one is:

If the circumference of a circle is multiplied by 5, by how much is the area multiplied?

The answer should be 25 but I keep on getting 10.

The second seems way easier but I don't seem to be getting the right number.

If the price of a plane ticket has increased by 15% to $172.50, what was the cost before the increase?

The answer should be a flat $150 but I keep on getting $146.62.

Could someone please enlighten me by showing how to do this?

  • How would you go abotu simplifying this?

    Simplify and express without radicals.

    √(x)/11th√(x)

I've been stuck on this. Please show how to do it as well.

Btw, that is the 11th root of x if you didn't catch that. The answer should be x^9/22

  • How are you supposed to solve this?

You are supposed to solve by completing the square.

    The question is:

    2x^2+3x-17=0

I know you're supposed to add 17 to the other side then divide the second term by 2 then square it but in this case what do you do?

(Yeah I know I asked this but I made a minor mistake that changed the whole problem and the result.) =\

  • Do you think thats its fair for parents to nag and enforce the younger child....?

that is still young and in middle school than to enforce the older child who is about to move into a dorm in a few months?

My friends been having this problem and frankly I feel sad for him and think its unfair that they enforce him than his brother who should get used to doing his own chores seeing as he is moving into college.

    What's your guys perspective?

  • Which trucks are better to use for skateboarding? Ventures or Independent?

Alright so I'm getting my new board in a few days but I cant quite decide which to get. Ventures or Independent? I just thought it'd be good to get opinions of others before I fully decide. I hear Independent trucks are heavy but very good and decent. And I hear that ventures are light and good but dont last real long. I heard Thunders are good from some friends but they seem to heavy to me. The board I want is a light one.

  • How would you get the two equations in this word problem?

An airplane flew for 4 hours with a 20-km/h tail wind. The return flight against the same wind took 5 hours. Find the speed of the plane in still air.

I cant quite get the two equations from this word problem. If your wondering why there is two its because it is needed to be solved using the Linear Combination method or the Substitution method.

  • How would you solve this world problem using Linear Combination??

The Taylor family reunion had a record turnout or 38 people last year. For a change of pace, they decided to go ice skating instead of having a picnic. Admission for the group cost $179.50(including skates). How many adults and how many children were at the reunion???

    Admission:

    Adults-$3.75, Children-$2.50

    Admission and skate rental:

    Adult-$5.25, Children-$4.00

If not able to be done in Linear Combination how would you do it with the Substitution method?
