Green Beret Running for congress?
Any of you seen this guy yet? http://www.vote4frank.com/
I don't care what your politics or his, this guy is a freakin bad azz, and it's very nice to see people of his caliber running for office. It always seems like the best people in society never run, and we're left with halfazz politicians representing us. What do you think?

INSURGENTS TO HALT ATTACKS! Story: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060628/ap_on_re_mi_ea...
Let me be clear. I was in the military 6yrs in Europe & Mid-East. I wholeheartedly support our current mission of planting democracy in the geographic heart of the Muslim world. I know, AFTER we leave, it will prosper & spread to neighboring populations in Iran, Syria, Saudi, Egypt, Yemen, etc. And that with reform, democracy, & modern education (in 10-20yrs) there will be no one willing to listen to the cult of evil which is extremist militant Islam (read bin Laden if you like). We've never wanted a war in Iraq against the Sunni insurgents, just al Qaeda.
Short & sweet, would you accept terms from Sunni insurgents to pull out all troops in two years CONDITIONAL on their support to destroy al Qaeda & spin up Iraqi defense forces & democratic govt?

Is the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (AP Story: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060614/ap_on_re_as/as... emerging as the new Warsaw Pact? Facing off against US, Japan, Australia, etc, with Taiwan holding the position of Berlin, & military power focused on naval more so than land power?
NOTE: Japan is partnered with US on regional missle defense, has recently engaged & chased off a PRC sub in Japan waters, has opened an informal embasy in Taipei, and has an extensive exchange program of retired senior military officers. They are now in negotiations with Taipei toward a treaty as to what level of military involvement Japan would have in support of the US if China were to invade Taiwan, & what Japan military reaction would be if these extensive support & defensive forces were to be attacked.
