  • I need a new job-Safety Pro. I have seven years of Occupational Safety-Environmental Compliance and Training?

I have tons of certificates(FF/EMT, CIHM, CSM, STS, SPS, OSHA 10-30 Trainer...) and three solid years towards a bachelors degree, but everywhere I apply reference having a BS/BA degree. In contrast my manager has zero HSE knowledge and got the job because he is somebodies friend. I was working overseas for the Gov't and wanted more home time so I took a substantial pay cut to come back and be with my family (like 50k+). So besides getting low-ball pay as far as industry wide, I really feel my bosses don't give a damn about my opinion.

My current employer offers decent education assistance and I have found a program that is accomplishable in 1.5 years, but is it worth it?

So if you represent a HR Dept. or are a hiring manager let me know.

    Thanks

  • WHY the demand now? My wife and I have been together for 10 plus years and married for the last five.?

I have worked jobs that take me away from home, ie. offshore 28/14 schedules, and I have done this for 4 years now. She says it bothers her cause she has to be a 'single' parent, but when I am home that is all I do-'make up for her time that she cared for the kids. I am the bread winner making 60-70k or more a year compared to her 15-20k that has no benefits. The other day she gave me a deadline of one month to find a job in NC where the median income is like 20-27k and limited benefits. To give you another idea just daycare alone is like 9k with the possibility to come down to 7k when the youngest goes to pre-k school. Let me not mention the truck, house, or just maintenance payments. I think her plan is buy straight out a trailer and live there and work at Wally World for $8.oo an hour, as long as I am home with her and the kids. I have stated my dislike for NC and wish to move to another area, but she has family in NC and wants to build a clientele there. Am I in the wrong?

  • I need a new job-Safety Guy.?

I have seven years of Occupational Safety-Environmental Compliance and Training, yet my Supervisors are killing me. I have tons of certificates(FF/EMT, CSM, STS, SPS...) and three solid years towards a bachelors degree, but everywhere I apply reference having a BS/BA degree.

My current employer offers decent education assistance and I have found a program that is accomplishable in 1.5 years, but really risking my sanity if I stay.

Should I just become 'robot'-(remove any feelings for the job) do my time complete the coursework and move on or hope for an act of God and a new regime?

Thanks in advance for all the answers.

  • What should I get my Wife for our 4 year Anniversary??

I have been deployed for 2.5 years and currently work a job where I am gone a month at a time. I will be there for the Anniversary, but have to go back to work shortly after. I have in the past gotten her blue diamond rings, necklaces, more rings and diamonds, but honestly I think that jewelry just isn't good enough this year. We did the cruise thing a couple of years ago, but now we have two little ones. When I ask what she wants it is simply me home... Any help-ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
