  • How do you program a command in Access to open up a text file?

I dont mean just open up Notepad, but to open up a specific text file, either by the user choosing through a file browser or just by a hard-coded file name.

  • Why do people respond to some of these troll questions?

Questions like "it's wrong for black people to be alive". What is the point of posting a reply to that? To say "You evil racist", "We are all people", etc.? That is completely obvious so there is no point in saying it. The outrageous troll knows completely what they are doing. Everyone but hard-core hateful racists and trolls disagree with their post. Their posts are so ridiculous, over-the-top, inane so why do so many respond to them?

  • Sorry, but brown skin is beautiful. Why must there be one standard for everyone?

I couldn't stomach posting a reply to the troll questions so I'll just say it here. It's hard for me to believe that I missed the gorgeousness of darker skin before. Warm, rich, luxurious, the sheen... it's just really weird how I didnt notice it. It is definitely the opposite of unpleasant. Brown skin also seems to go great with other colors... the way it contrasts with blue and brighter colors, as well as white and black as well (brown smooth even skin with black looks ultra luxurious). I mean, I guess I'll stop- My point is, anyone who makes degrading comments about anyone's skin color is an idiot. The more color the better, and the more variety the better. I have found light skin, medium skin and dark skin to all look beautiful. And after we realize that, we can then realize that personality can make anyone ugly or beautiful no matter how they look.

My question is, why must there be one "look" for everyone to to try to obtain when it would be boring if everyone looked the same

  • Isn't it funny?

That the different genders are taught to behave and think differently from one another, to stick with their gender when it comes to friendships, to almost be a different species, and then later when they try to get into relationships they complain about not understanding the opposite sex? And then act like it is an inherent part of gender, like people are just born with all of the baggage that they actually got from society?

I think that true gender identity comes from within, and doesn't need to be enforced. But that's just my crazy gay opinion.

  • Why is it in my interests for minorities in this country to be poor?

This is a question in response to the claim that whites would like to see minorities not succeed.

We live in a post-industrial society. Nations are competing with one another to have the most productive workforce. Jobs in the leading countries are requiring a more educated workforce. Social security and medicare require people to pay into them with their tax money, which they pay more of when they make more money. The more poor you are, the more you take from public funds and the less you pay into it. Being poor, socially disadvantaged, feeling hopeless, or like you're not a part of society causes deliquency. This make everyone less safe and is a drain on society when we have to pay for prison stays. Who in the he** wants that?

I ask you- I honestly want to know, why it would be in my selfish interests (if I were going to be selfish) to want minorities to be impoverished?

  • "brown skin shining in the sun"?

In "boys of summer" by don henley, is he talking about a white girl with a tan? That's what I'm guessing. Interesting choice of words.

    "And i can see you

your brown skin shining in the sun

you got your hair combed back

    sunglasses on baby"

  • Question for all African Americans?

When you read accounts in American history about how blacks were treated, what is your reaction? Do you feel hate towards whites as a group, do you feel glad that things are somewhat better now? What goes through your mind?

  • Why a web browser add-in is not showing up?

I installed Microsoft web components, and they are not showing in th add-in's section of IE. They also do not work because I am not able to view a Data Access page (that was made with Access 2000.) This Data Access page can be viewed on other computers, and those computers seem to have correct add-ins all ready installed.

I basically need a way to view Data Access Pages on this one (WinXP) computer. Any ideas?

  • Just out of curiousity, does anyone LIKE a ruddy look?

By that I mean skin translucent enough that a reddish color from blood shows through most of the body. I never found that attractive personally, but are there some that like that look?

  • Do you need to believe in God to be a good person?

I have heard some say as an explanation for why some people hate others, that they "don't have the love of God." How then do you explain caring people who don't believe in God? Can you not be a loving person if you don't have that belief?

  • Should hateful racists be forced into mental wards?

Or at least be put under government watch? They are scary and anti-social and have an extremely warped view of humanity. When they express their fantasies about entire groups getting harmed based on physical or ethnic type should they be put on close watch in case they try to act out their depravities in some way? I have come across a few racist websites before, and while I believe in free speech, hateful anti-socials who delight in the suffering and demeaning of racial groups should at least have files on them somewhere to keep track of their activities.

  • Why aren't African Americans disproportionately alcoholic?

When poor Native Americans, Australian aborigines, and Irish (who are poor in recent history, not today) are ? What's the ethnic connection to alcoholism? Why does it seem like a European and native American/Australian thing?

  • Why do most labels need to be feminized to refer to women?

When the original version is the main version, not just the male version? Occupations (except for model) need to have a female version. Even epithets (f*gg*t, the n word) refer to males even though at the same time they are somehow supposed to represent the whole race or sexual minority?

Why are males the default human to refer to? Why can both boys and girls equally enjoy "Harry Potter" but if it was "Harriet Potter" it would be a girl book? What does this say about mianstream society and gender identity?

  • Hanging with Mr. Cooper?

Does anyone else like that show? I've been watching it in syndication, but I remember seeing it when it aired on TGIF in the mid 90s. Watching it now, I'm surprised at how good it is. Just simple, goofy, fun entertainment. I am officially a fan and I usually don't like sitcoms.

  • Anyone else feel androgynous and feel like it is the most normal way to be?

I don't feel very feminine or very masculine. On an intuitive level, I think being just feminine or masculine would be limiting. Macho or feminine posturing seems silly. I understand that it is normal to be at one end or another (in an evolutionary way), but that doesn't FEEL normal to me.
