  • how concerned should I be?

I am scheduled for a total knee replacement tomorrow. Surgery is scheduled for 2 p.m. The doctor will be operating from 7:30 a.m. on. By the time my surgery is complete he will have been on his feet for about 10 hours.

He is an excellent doctor, but I just can't get past the "exhaustion" factor.

  • vocational rehab do I have to?

I am on workers comp. Both my physician and the comp insurance doctor have said I can return to work with accommodations/light duty. My employer does not have light duty jobs.

My employer has continued to pay me, my regular salary with raises. I in turn have given them my comp check. So, I am still employed by them. However the insurance company wants me to go to vocational rehab. Why should I? I have a job. They just won't have me back right now. I make $44,000 a year. Any job through rehab would be a lot less.

Since I am employed, do I have to go through vocational rehab? I'm in Northeast PA.

  • Has anyone had hardware removed, that was put in to repair a broken hip?

I broke my hip 10 months ago. I have had pain every day since. From the tests (CT, MRI and bone scan) it appears that the plate that was put in place is too big and placed too high. The plate and the screw in the groin area are irritating the bones and muscles and causing my pain. Has anyone had this hardware removed? What was the rehab like? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Pain 4 months after broken hip?

I had a broken hip repaired (not replaced) 4 months ago. X-rays show that the fracture is healed. However, I have pain in the groin, buttocks, along the area where the incision was made, abdominal area nearest the groin and tingling in both legs. I also have swelling in the affected side ankle and my thigh along this side is 3" larger than the other side. The pain is constant. I wake up with it, and go to bed with it. Percosset will dull it for about 3 hours.

The doctor says he doesn't know why I still have pain. I am at a loss. Any suggestions. I am wondering if the stainless steel plate, bolt and screws can cause adverse reactions. Other than the Orthopedic Surgeon, what other doctors might help me?

  • Can a Maryland teacher accept new employment?

I completed my first year of teaching in a Maryland School District. I signed a contract in August of 2005. I received a satisfactory rating and am able to go back to that position. However, I don't want to. I have been offered another position in another district, but I'm being told I cannot take that job. Help me understand why?

  • seeing therapist after termination of therapy?

A few of us are at odds on this question. Psychotherapy was terminated 4 years ago, good terms both therapist and client agreed with termination. However an issue has recently come up that was not resolved during therapy. Is it okay to see prior therapist for aid in resolving the issue? At termination it did not appear that the door was completely shut to this possibility.
