Citigroup Inc. lost almost $10 billion in last year's final three months, the largest quarterly deficit in its 196-year history, and slashed its dividend and 4,200 jobs as it recorded a mammoth write-down for bad bets on the mortgage industry...
2 AnswersCorporations1 decade agoDoes the earth spin because of the Sun?
The earch spins on it's axis (the north/ south pole). And the equater is the center point between these. It cannot be a coinsidence that it is the equator that faces the sun, so does the Sun make the Earth spin?
Otherwise, if the North pole faced the Sun we wouldn't have any seasons!

1 AnswerOther - News & Events1 decade agoWhy are people trying to say that the price of fuel is at an all time high when it isn't?
When fuel is priced in dollars and dollar is at an all time low, then it is bound to look high at 100$ per barrel and is high for Americans, but when buying in pounds and Euros it is just at an average level.
We're being conned if they try to raise the price of household gas or Petrol prices.
8 AnswersEconomics1 decade agoIs a country that can sustain it's population with food always going to be rich?

6 AnswersEconomics1 decade agoWhere does this figure of the UK producing 2% of the world pollution come from?
People keep saying that the UK produces only 2% of the world's pollution. How have they worked this out?
For a country that is home to only 0.01% of the world's population this is still a signifacant figure. But does this include all air travel by UK residents.
All the pollution from the millions of factories in India, Tawain and China that produce all the crap that we buy from Argos and Asda? Does that include all the pollution from the manufacture of all the millions of cars that are imported from all over the world?
And if peole could stop thinking about 2% and think that this is to be accomplished in line with all countries within the EU (with half a billion residents) and with that amount of purchasing power we can easily force countries such as India and China to make things our way. Then we are totally in control of what happens next on this earth.

8 AnswersEconomics1 decade agoHDMI vs HD DVD?
I'm a little confused! I bought a brand new HD TV with HDMI, I bought the HDMI cable and a Sanyo DVD player with HDMI/ DivX etc.
I connected the cable and it worked, it showed the DVD screen in HD, then I put in a new HD DVD film in and it doesn't recognise the disc.
Why have a HDMI cable if it can't play HD DVD discs? What is the difference between HDMI and HD DVD?
