I own a full size 9mm, and I'm thinking of obtaining a pistol permit in order to carry concealed. Of course, carrying such a large weapon concealed would be a bit of a trick, so it's probably going in my purse (which I'm way more protective over than the average woman).

I've got some pretty good reasons for carrying concealed and most of it stems from my long solo drives to/from scuba diving sites. I spend a lot of time on the road, at all hours of the day and night, and I'd feel better with a means to defend myself.

My big question is to all the various police officers out there: If I am carrying concealed, and I get pulled over for some odd reason, what do you expect from me? Would you want to know immediately that I carry a firearm? How would you expect me to behave? (i.e. both hands on the steering wheel, keys out of the ignition,etc).

Basically, I don't want some freaked out cop drawing down on me because he saw the butt of my pistol as I rummaged for my driver's licenses.

How do you calculate your SAC rate? I don't have an air integrated computer, just an SPG and depth gauge.

My boyfriend's work schedule is changing drastically; he's going to be out of the state for two weeks every month. Before, we had it worked out so the dog was never home alone more than 8 or 9 hours once every couple of days. Now, he's going to be home alone for 24 hours at a time, every third day (I work 24 hour shifts). I've got a chain link outdoor dog kennel that he can stay in while I'm gone, but which do you think is better? Finding him a good home that can spend more time with him, or keeping him, but leaving him alone for 24 hours at a time?

Unfortunately, due to the nature of my work, I'm not able to guarantee my ability to check on him during the 24 hour period...and I checked, changing shifts isn't an option. I'm also thinking of a third option; getting a second dog to keep him company while I'm gone. So, internet people, what would you do? Thanks for your advice :)

I'm really uncomfortable in the water. The shallow end's OK, but the deep end scares me.

Normally, this wouldn't be a big deal, except that I'm hell-bent on learning to scuba dive.

I'm working on learning to swim first, though. I can dog-paddle about half a pool length, can float on my stomach (with mask and snorkel on), and can snorkel OK, but I tend to panic if water gets in my snorkel. For the life of me, I can't float on my back.

I, obviously, need to learn to get over this before I learn to dive.

The thing is, I've got friends at work, who are anxiously awaiting me to be certified, so they can have a scuba buddy.

I just need some tips on how to get comfortable in the water.

We met at work, and started hanging out...got along pretty well...everything was going great. Then, he offered to rent my car for a month or two (I was in some financial difficulties at the time). He doesn't have a car of his own...after a couple of weeks, he started hanging out with me less, etc...then there was a big work crisis; now he's mad and bitter at everyone...he says we're still friends...I had to take the car back because there was some damage (not his fault) to the convertible top, plus he hadn't paid me for the last two weeks of car rental. Now, he's even more depressed, withdrawn, and upset. It doesn't help that everyone at work told me he was going to do this to me...now he thinks everyone at work is against him...he accused me of not trusting him...my question is: Do you think he's really using me, did it just turn into that, or is he upset over work and I'm just taking it personally...thanks in advance for your advice!

I've never had a male dog before and I'm not sure whether I should neuter him. He's a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, about 10 months old now...I didn't neuter him earlier simply because I couldn't afford it. Now that I can afford to, should I? His behavior has been excellent, no housebreaking accidents, no issue with humping the couch pillows, no tendency to wander off. He's got so much personality and spunk...I'm just worried that I'm going to affect him by having him neutered. I'm very responsible about keeping him away from female dogs in heat, so unwanted puppies are not an issue. All my other dogs have been female, and spaying was mandatory for me because of the issue of bloody discharge in the house...not really an issue with a male dog. I'm not looking for the blanket "neuter your dog or else" answer, just educated opinions from those who can respect my reluctance to get my dog neutered.

I'm getting drunk for a good cause on Thursday! The local police academy has bought a ton of liquor and wants us to get blitzed, so the student cops can practice sobriety tests.

I need some ideas for clever jokes to say to the cops, you know the things you'd want to say if a cop pulled you over, but don't because you don't want to go to jail for pissing them off!

I'm just sick with anger at what this guy is doing to me! First off, he broke up with me over one year ago, and slept with his best friend (now they are dating - did I mention that his best friend is male?). Out of the goodness of my heart, I agreed to let my ex live in my condo in Alaska while I moved to Alabama and got on with my life. He agreed to pay the mortgage and condo dues as monthly rent. Now, one year later. I'm working on selling the condo, something he is in total agreement with. When my real estate agent looked at the condo, she told me it's completely trashed. I'm going to have to sell it for thousands less than it's worth because of that. Now, I just found out that he hasn't paid condo dues in over a a year (and lied to my face when I asked about it a few months back)! I now owe over $2,000 which is going to come out of the profits of the condo. Does any one else have ex husbands like this? Please tell me I'm not the only one!

I have a year old husky mix who is perfectly housetrained. I just introduced a 4 month old corgi puppy to her, and they got along fairly well. The problem is that the corgi puppy isn't housetrained. I don't mind cleaning up her mistakes in the house, but the husky has started smelling her mistakes and then defecating or urinating right next to them! Is this normal and is there any way I can prevent this?

My former roommate moved back to Alaska, and left her dog with me, promising to send for it. It's been a month, and she finally emailed me to let me know that she couldn't send for it, and to find it a new home. "It" is a small Chihuahua mix, about 4 pounds, female, unspayed, no shots or any kind of medical care. I need to find her a new home. Is anyone here into Chihuahua rescue, or would be interested in giving her a new home? Would it be mean of me just to surrender her to the shelter? Being that she is a small dog, I'm nearly positive she will find a good home. My "friend" has never given me a single dime to pay for this dog's care, and the dog is getting a bit expensive. I've tried the local small dog rescue, but they weren't able to take her. What do you all think I should do? The main issue is that I have to rehome her by the end of the month, because I'm moving, and there is no place in the new house to put her.

I recently adopted a stray dog named Denali. She is wonderfu, sweet, and housebroken (yipee!). She does have a problem with submissive urination, though. She will urinate a small amount if I scare her (quite accidentely) by grabbing her collar, pulling her off the bed or couch, approaching her in I'm guessing as what she percieves as a dominant manner, or holding her snout (which is necessary because she has a puncture wound on her head that requires treatment). I haven't been correcting her, and just ignoring the submissive urination because I thought that if I ignored it, the behavior would ceace. It's been three weeks since we first adopted her, and the submissive urination is actually getting a bit worse (or maybe I'm just noticing it more). My question is: Is there anything I can do to help fix this?

She's a German Shepherd, spayed, one year old. She is housetrained, UTD on HW and flea/tick preventative, and she doesn't chew on anything but her toys. She is healthy, and current on shots. She's loyal, affectionate, and protective, and knows obedience commands in German. She needs to be an ONLY dog, as she is not getting along with the other dog or the cats in my house. There was a dog fight yesterday, and I realized that I can't keep both dogs, and I figured the GSD would have a better chance at finding a new home than the mixed breed mutt. Her only other problem is that sometimes she will bark and lunge at the leash when she sees another dog, but she is getting better, and with some work, she should stop that behavior completely. A small adoption fee applies, and I'd prefer to meet any potential adoptors to make sure she is a good fit for their family. Pictures are available upon request.

I have two dogs, a one year old female spayed German Shepherd, that I've had for six months, and a husky mix, unspayed, that I've had for 3 weeks. The GSD has always had issues with dominance/aggression, but after the initial spat, they got along well together. For the past week, I've noticed the new dog challenging her a bit more, and they didn't get along as well as they used to. Today, when I let the new dog in from outside, Aurora attacked her! The new dog tried to submit, but Aurora would not let go. I screamed at her, but she wouldn't listen. The only way I got her to let go was by grabbing the collar and holding it until she ran out of air. The new dog has a hole in her head; you can see the skull! The only thing that saved her life was that Aurora missed the "kill bite" and wound up biting her lower jaw instead. My question is: has anyone else had to deal with a situation like this? My plan is to rehome Aurora, and keep the white dog, but what would you do?

I went out drinking with my coworkers, and wound up passing out on the back porch. Now I'm miserable! Any good ideas for getting rid of hangovers (besides not drinking)?

And before anyone gets judgemental on me, I had a very bad call that morning involving dead children. There's nothing like working a pediatric code first thing in the morning to ruin your day :(

I recently found a dog, a small blonde husky mix. She's a very sweet dog, but has a bad case of mange, along with runny eyes, and general ill health. I've posted flyers in the local area, trying to find her owner, run an ad in two local papers, and posted ads on the internet. I've checked for lost dog ads. So far, no luck.

The thing is, I really want to keep this dog. I've already taken her to the vet, and there is no microchip. She never had a collar or tags.

She's an absolute sweetheart, and gets along with my very dominant female German Shepherd. She even likes my cats!!!

So, how long before I can consider this dog mine?

I use a standard pinch collar on my German Shepherd, and I find that I don't have the finger strength to undo the links, so to put it, on I have to slip it over my dog's head. It's not very effective as a pinch collar if it's loose enough to fit over her head. So, I was wondering if anyone knew of a pinch collar that had an easier to work with way to get it on and off the dog, maybe a quick release clasp or something. I've tried a choke collar, but it's just not effective with my dog.

She's a female puppy, that I'm aquiring from my roommate when she moves out later next month. She's light brown, and is best friends with my German Shepherd, Aurora. I was thinking of maybe keeping to a theme, something Alaskan, possibly? Or just a really cute name. Her current name is Honey, which I wouldn't mind keeping, except for the fact that I call my boyfriend honey. I can already envision the confusion! Maybe something that goes with Honey, so I can still maybe have her middle name as Honey.

What would cause bigeminy of PVC's in a young adolescent?

Only hx is hemophilia.

Recently recieved clotting factor.

No cardiac history.

Recent trauma - fell from standing height

Previous complaint of shoulder pain, no pain right now.

12 lead - negative.

Currently on O2 @2 LPM

Asymptomatic, no chest pain or SOB.

PVC's are non perfusing.

Pt's HR is about 40, if you don't count the non-perfusing beats.

I'm at a loss for what might have caused the PVC's.
