I need some recommendations on safe, fun areas to live in Alexandria or a nearby city in Northern Virginia. My husband and I like to walk, bike, and go to the theatre. We don't drink much, don't like noisy crowds. I am a big fan of boutique and antique shopping or at least "window shopping." We don't want to pay more than $2400, obviously less is better. We want to live near the metro. I think Old Town is for me, but maybe I'm narrowing my search too much. Any suggestions are so welcome, as I'm planning this move from California!

I am an experienced nurse from California. We are moving to Northern Virginia (Old Town Alexandria), so I need some advice on facilities, pay, quality care. Commute time is also important, and I would love to use the Metro if at all possible. Thanks!!

We are looking at a home that the seller is desperate to sell. We would like to buy it, and we can afford the monthly payments. We will be renting out our existing home. We can provide the $48,000 required for a 10% down. But then we will be really stretched. What can the seller do to help this situation? We have good credit.

What is the best method for doing it quickly?

I can't afford California, Hawaii or Oregon; Texas is too hot; Florida has hurricanes.....I would look outside the U.S. if the government was stable enough to support a long-term investment. Oh, I also don't want heavy snow or 4" mosquitoes. I know I'm picky! Any ideas? Please be specific to town or county, if possible. Is it an impossible dream to retire somewhere where I can wake up to the sound of the seashore?

He is into Tae Kwon Do, hiking, music, guns, gadgets...but I want to give him a romantic experience, something money can't buy necessarily....I want it to say, "I love you so much I came up with something really creative!"
