  • What is this type of bicycle?

It was one I used to ride when younger. Not sure if it's fixed-gear, or whatever. You tell me.

I could coast on it. That is, if I stopped pedalling, the bike would keep moving.

Riding the pedals backwards would cause it to brake.

So what type of bike is this?

  • Difference between single-speed, fixed-gear and 6-speed bicycles?

As far as braking, coasting, etc. goes, what is the difference between single-speed, fixed-gear and 6-speed bicycles?

  • Mutual female friend flirts with boyfriend when alone?

This girl is a mutual friend that my boyfriend and I met at the same time. He has told her that he likes me and, though I'm too shy to talk about it, she knows that I like him too. She teases me with stuff like, "So how did your date with [boyfriend's name] go? ;)" and tells us that we make a cute couple.

However, my boyfriend says that when she's alone with him (we hang out as a group but I'm not always present), she flirts heavily - even though he has told her many times that he likes ME.

So why would a girl be like that? I thought she was a harmless friend. (Granted, everyone knows she is pretty promiscuous). Why would she say things like, "He really, really likes you! You're so compatible" then turn around and flirt with him behind my back?

  • He said, "You're the least bitchy girl I know"?

Which, he clarified, meant I wasn't a bitchy person at all.

Could you guys elaborate on this and what you guys consider 'bitchy'?

I took it as a very very nice compliment.

  • The inconvenience of make-up while staying at boyfriend's family's place?

Well, I'm staying at my boyfriend's family's place for a fortnight. At home, I pluck everyday (or else you'll see ugly short eyebrow hairs and peach fuzz) and + make up which takes about 40 minutes all up...but I don't know if I can keep this up at someone else's place. I'm afraid to let my boyfriend see me without makeup. I wear it light and natural - but it's enough to make a nice difference.

Any tips or experiences to share to make this an easier and less anxious trip?

  • Letting a mutual female friend crash at your place...and not telling your girlfriend that detail?

So, I went out with a group of friends + my boyfriend for Saturday night drinks. At the end of the night, we all parted ways. It was arranged that my boyfriend would walk a mutual female friend home as it was late. I was happy with that. It's not safe for a girl to walk home alone after all. Next time I saw my boyfriend I asked if he walked her home and he said he did - which I complimented because it was a nice thing for him to do.

Then later on, I find out from the girl herself that she had forgotten her keys or something and crashed at his place. Why did he not give me that detail? Not even nonchalantly?

Was he afraid of me taking things out of proportion so decided to omit that information? Or does he have something to hide?

Can a guy and girl sleep innocent in the same room together platonically?

I hate to sound like a jealous girlfriend, but it hurts hearing stuff like this from a third party...even if nothing happened.

  • Why do you put your hand palm on a girl's palm?

There's this guy who asked me to open my palm up, then he puts his palm on mine...as though comparing hand sizes. Thing is, he has done this about 3-4 times (and he has a crush on me). Why? Is it just an excuse to have some physical contact with a girl?

  • Compatibility: The same Moon & Sun signs but swapped around?

Just wondering if there's anything significant about such a situation:

Person 1 - Aries Sun and Libra Moon.

Person 2 - Libra Sun and Aries Moon.

Does this say anything about their compatibility and what their relationship is like?

Also, what are the differences between the two people judging on the mentioned signs in Moon & Sun?

  • He says he can't believe I've never been asked out?

A male friend and I chat about everything from religion, food, to relationships. Every time the topic of relationships comes up (we talk about our own views and experiences), he'll say something like, "It's hard to believe you've never been asked out." I just shrug and laugh.

When a guy keeps saying stuff like that, is he just making an observation? Or something else?

  • "I feel calm around you like everything is all right in the world."?

An acquaintance of the opposite gender said this to me. I wasn't sure if he was exaggerating or whatever, so I laughed a bit because I didn't know how to respond.

Anyway, what is it about a girl that would make a guy feel like that? What does this calming effect mean?

  • What happens to virus detections/warnings once I stop or cancel the scan?

The Avira full system scan is taking way too long and I really must shut my computer down. At the moment, it has 3 virus "detections" and 6 "warnings". If I stop the scan now (currently at 55% and has taken 8 hours!) what happens to those detections/warnings? Are they clear out of the way now? Or will stopping the scan mean Avira does nothing with those detections?

  • Name of this song (French, I think)?

It's an easy-listening piece, relaxing and a bit jazzy.

From what I remember, it's a man's voice but he's singing with an accent...in another language. French, probably. I could only make out one word 'cafe'.

    Yeah, terrible clues, I know.

If you have any ideas, please write them here!

  • Asking for unpaid work experience at job interview?

    Here's situation:

I recently applied for a graphic design job that I have no qualifications for, but I have skills. In my cover letter, I said that (as I have no qualifications or real professional experience) I'd be happy to gain work experience there if I don't qualify for the paid position. They probably liked what they saw because they've asked me to come in for a job interview. How would it look if I brought up the volunteer/work experience thing again at the interview? Would I be showing lack of confidence or would I be showing enthusiasm?

  • Why look back at girl when walking away after conversation?

This question is aimed more at guys but I guess girls can chip in too. :)

Guys, you stop to chat with a female friend. After the conversation ends, you say your goodbyes and you walk off. You suddenly look back (for some reason) and see her with her eyes still on you, and she's smiling.

    1) What would you think if you looked back and saw the girl looking at you and smiling.

    2) As you walk away, why would you suddenly look back at her in the first place?

  • Was he trying to get rid of me?

Tonight, I finished work early. I had about 10 minutes left and this guy (my crush) came to take over. Great, a chance for us to chat a bit, I thought. We exchanged a few lines about sports. He said that I could finish and get off work early, even though I said I didn't mind staying for my entire shift. He told me twice that I could go early.

If he liked me, he would have tried to get me to stay as long as possible, right? He was basically trying to get rid of me. Pretty clear he doesn't fancy me at all...

  • How do guys behave around a girl he thinks isn't interested in THAT way?

Guys, if you're the cool/reserved type, how do you act around a girl (that you may or may not like) who you *believe* does not like you in THAT way?

What would your behavior be like around her?

  • Looks are all that matter, right?

Don't tell me it's what's inside that counts. I've known this guy for years at work. We have plenty in common. I support his plans and we lend each other books. I watch shows he recommends to me and we rant about the same stuff. Our goals in life are similar as are our likes/dislikes.

In comes another girl at work. She's pretty/hot/beautiful - and all the guys fawn over her.

My crush invites her out for dinner alone and pays for it. He seems mighty proud of it too, telling everybody.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what the heck I do, I could never compete with a pretty face. This guy knows how much in common I have with him - yet that's worth nothing if another girl with a pretty face comes along. I've given up.

This rubbish about "everyone is beautiful" means nothing if the person I like doesn't see it in me.

    I give up.

I don't think there is a question here. Just confirm to me that in the real world, the fact is that looks matter most of all.

  • Why are we more comfortable when there's someone else around?

When my crush and I talk alone, there are awkward moments. We have many common interests and things to talk about, but our conversation seems a tad more awkward and not very smooth.

Funny thing is, when there's another person around (e.g. a mutual acquaintance), our conversation is noticeably more lively, smooth and natural. We laugh, we stand directly facing each other, etc. Even with a third person standing there, my crush and I are mostly focusing on each other.

But, like I said, when it's JUST us two alone, there's a slight sort of tension. The conversation is more formal...perhaps forced.

    What's happening here?

Why does the presence of a third person make such a difference?
