  • How to pronounce the French word "crepe" in English?

    I keep asking for "crape" (with an open "A"), afraid of saying cr*p by mistake.

  • What is crab imitation? Why not get the real crab instead?

    I think price is a reason, but is there more to it? Is crab imitation a delicacy in itself, 'imitation' being just a crabby name for such great food?

  • Picanha, a Brazilian meat cut, what is it?

    I love picanha, but I don't seem to find the corresponding meat cut in the US. Some people say it is part of the tri tip, other say it's the top sirloin... what exactly is it?

  • Do you know any rat recipe that uses rat meat?

    I have been thinking of cooking rats for some time now, but I don't seem to find a good way of doing it, and I don't know how to buy rats as well.

    Do you know if there is a place I can buy clean rats for cooking purposes? Do you know any recipe that uses rat meat? Can rabbit recipes be adapted?

  • Perl data structures?

    Hi,

    I am trying to create a very simple perl data structure, but I ain't getting nowhere with this.

    I saw examples like this

    my $my_structure = {

    'name1' => 'value2',

    'array1' => [1, 2, 3]

    };

    and it works, but when I use a variables, like this

    my %xa = qw(a 1

    b 2)

    ;

    my $b = {'a' => 'x',

    'b' => %xa

    };

    print "a $xa{'a'} \n";

    print "b $b->{'a'} \n";

    I get errors. First of all I get an "odd number of assignments in the first hash declaration I didn't have before.

    Cna anyone help me with this... just finding what's wrong with that simple example above would help me a lot.

    Thanks.

  • Using Intel Core Duo Imac as my only computer?

    I am going to buy a new PC soon, and I'm thinking about buying the new Intel Core Duo 20'' Imac, and have it as the sole computer at home. I'm a heavy user of Windows apps and, most of all, games.

    Does it perform well enough for gaming? Am I better-off with a standard PC with a decent LCD attached?

    I'm thinking of opening a bar, a pub, in San Francisco. Do you think it's a profitable business? Should I do it in a less trendy area like San Jose or Oakland? Is there am official information of taxes, forms etc related to opening a small business there?

  • With Craigslist, should I bother checking Yahoo! Real Estate?

    I found Craigslist's search results broader and more relevant, but I keep asking myself where's the catch, and if I should stick to "conventional" services like Yahoo! Real Estate.

  • I'm moving to the USA. What will my credit score be?

    I will move to the US to a long term stay under H-1B visa. First things I'll do: rent a home and finance a car. How will my absence of credit history in the US affect my capability of doing them?

    Additionally, is there a way to transfer a good credit history from my country to the US?

  • What does income restriction stand for in California home rentals?

    I have been looking through SF Bay Area rental ads and, in some of them (the affordable ones), I have repeatedly found the disclaimer "income restrictions apply". I simply don't know what it means.
