  • I have been terying to install win xp on my comp.?

when I install my new win xp onto my comp and just as it gets finished and it does the reboot it starts the whole program over again" a resetting effect" and it does the whole thing over again. When it boots it does it from the cd but If I remove the cd when it boots it says no operating system. I tried 3 different hard drives and I dont think its that so maybe the bios setings? I just dont know what else to try, I have even tried different jumper settings on the hard drives. I know I have enough ram 256 and a 1.3 ghz processor. I bought 2 xp programs and I put one on this comp that Im on and it took with no problems and the other I have spent 8 hours on to try to get working. So does anyone have any ideas on what the problem is. the ram checks ok I was thinking on the cmos? Im at whits end with this thing any help would be greatly appricated...

  • installing new win xp?

IM installing a fresh new out of the box win xp and IM doing everything that the comp says to do, it says to remove the floppy befor reboot but says nothing about removeing the win xp disc. If I do remove the disc it boots and says no operating system found but when I leave the cd in it runs the whole setup program again. I nkow the operating system is on it cause Im seeing a blue screen that says theres already an opersting system on it and putting another one on might cause problems. I have an unpartitoned space of 8 mb and Partition 1 of 38154 mb <37640 mb free> this is on a hp pavillion 502n with 256 ram 1.03 gigahertz processor. I have never had this many problems installing wni xp befor.anyone have any ideas?

  • power problem. I think?

I have a hp PC m1170n and it does turn on but the cooling fans are at full rpm. the hd is good and I also get no video. so Im thinking its the power supply. funny thing is is that even though it does turn on there is no light on the power switch is does have a light ist just not on and leds dont burn out in 2 years. the system specs are Pentium 4, 200 gig hd. 512 mgb of ram. its a media center hp the vid card is a ATI Radion x300 se which is a pci-e type card with 128 mgb of memory. So any ideas on why this might not be booting? Could it be the power supply?
