I got a BA in philosophy and BS in computer science -- there is more in common between these subjects then you might think! Legal: Any advice that I give may be accepted at your risk only. By following any of my answers or by taking any legal advice that I provide you agree too assume all risk and hold me harmless in any civil action.
What is better an apple or an orange?
15 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoDo you think i will get more best answers this way?
For the next 20 questions or so I am just going to whole heartedly agree with the opinion expressed by the asker (regardless of what I actually think) instead of my usual truthful and sometimes sarcastic way of answering.
Do you think that on those 20 questions I will get more best answers then my current avereage (27%)?
47 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoHow come so many people do not believe in evolution but do not think that the sky is solid?
In US 45% of people do not believe in evolution, sighting bible as counter-evidence.
See:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creation-evolution_co...
At the same time NOBODY thinks that the sky is solid, yet Genesis 1:8 EXPICITLY states that: "God called the firmament Heaven."

Can you explain this discrepancy?

2 AnswersBeer, Wine & Spirits1 decade agoCan somebody provide me with legal citation for a so called "dumb law"?
You all saw the websites that says that there are laws like:
"The penalty for jumping off a building is death."
or
"A person may not walk around on Sundays with an ice cream cone in his/her pocket."
See e.g. http://www.dumblaws.com/
For some reason I believe that they are all B.S.
Can somebody provide me with a LEGAL citation for al least ONE such a law?
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoDo you think that the only realistic way to peace in Middle East is through genocide?
Realistically, and keeping in mind the track record of the Middle East conflict, do you think that the only way to peace in the Middle East is for Palestinians to destroy Israel, or for Israel to genocide Palestinians. Or is there another VIABLE way to peace?
17 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoDo you think that P equals NP, or not?
In a 2002 poll of 100 researchers, 61 believed the answer is no, 9 believed the answer is yes, 22 were unsure, and 8 believed the question may be independent of the currently accepted axioms, and so impossible to prove or disprove.
What do you think and why?
15 AnswersPhilosophy2 decades agoJustify the following position: “tobacco is evil, but marijuana is great”?
I have been to a t-shirt shop on Venice Beach and saw 2 t-shirts hanging side by side. One had a big green cannabis leaf on it. Another had a crossed out cigarette and a witty saying: “no smoking within 15 feet of ANYTHING”
I was wondering how could a person believe both things at the same time?
Be creative.
11 AnswersLaw & Ethics2 decades agoIdeas on how to make Rumsfield a better commander.?
All great military leaders seemed to have only one eye. Examples: Lord Nelson, Kutuzov, Moshe Dayan. Do you think that if we take out one of Rumsfield’s eyes he will become a better military leader?
7 AnswersMilitary2 decades agoWhy is expunging their record such a frequently asked question on Yahoo Answers?
The question was asked 96 times:
http://answers.yahoo.com/search/search_result;_ylt...
Are there really THAT many people who need their record expunged? Or are people just wondering? Or is getting you record expunged an overriding concern for people who have a record?
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics2 decades agoIf a person takes REALLY bad advice from this section who is responsible?
Basically, what if someone does something EXTREMELY stupid as a result of legal advice in this section and suffers damages. Can he recover either from Yahoo or from the person who gave bad legal advice?
I would like to see some case law on this preferably from Pennsylvania.
8 AnswersLaw & Ethics2 decades agoDo you think that objectivism can exist independently of Rand?
No one thinks that existentialism is somehow predicated on Camus or Kierkgrad, or that categorical imperative is intimately tied in with Kant. So why can't objectivism be an independent philosophy not tied in with Rand.
3 AnswersPhilosophy2 decades agoWhy is Philosophy the most spammed category on Yahoo Answers?
Questions like "Is she the one" and "the most freakest moment in ur life is..........?" and not mention "why a man interested in women. what's a reason behind it.?" Are NOT philosophy
