  • Age Discrimination - legal or not ?

I have been searching case law, but cannot find this. A 50+ year old IT Manager at a State University is laid off in 2009 due to the "recession". One "student employee" in his 20s is kept to keep things running. Just about a year and a day later the student is promoted to Manager. The laid off manager had 10 years with the University, a spotless record and exceptional performance reviews. The student was part time, constantly late to work, but 30 years younger.

  • Best Linux distro for running ppp ?

I'm strong in Sun UNIX and don't want to try a bunch of Linux distro's to find the best one to use, so I am hoping someone on here has tried some already for setting up a dial-in ppp connection. I see a lot of people saying ubuntu, but I also hear that debian or FreeBSD is better. Has anyone set up a ppp server with Linux successfully? Thanks !

  • What is the best Cisco Router for home use?

Here is my path. Cox Cable --> Motorola SurfBoard SB5120-2.9.2.10-SCM03-NOSH --> Netgear FM114P --> Cisco 2924XL --> To My Wired Systems and Wireless AP's. .

I want to replace the Netgear Router with a 10/100 Ethernet WAN in - 10/100 Ethernet LAN Out - CISCO Router. Nothing more - Nothing Less. I am not interested in the Cisco 800's that do everything and get you coffee too. I want a plain workhorse in-out CISCO Router. Thanks in advance.

  • Best Access Point to use in a mixtd Apple & PC environment?

I have to set up a new wireless in my bosses home and he has a mixture of PC's and Apples. He currently has a D-Link AP that drops his daughters new Macbook.

I love Netgear products (from experience) and would like to use a netgear in his house, but am unsure of the Apple problem. I have FM114P's all over the place and they just work flawless.

Can anyone recommend an AP that would work as well as the old FM114P, but work in the range of the Macbook (g) ? And Support WEP and WPA

    Thanks in advance

  • Opinion of a 1989 Mercedes 420 SEL ?

I stumbled across a very clean, very smooth running 1989 420 SEL. One owner. 210,000 miles. Timing Chain changed at 110,000 .. It starts on the first grunt of the starter, less than a 1/2 second. No ticks, no leaks, no smoke. All maintenance logs, interior clean (not detailed to make it just look clean). The only odd thing is when I checked the oil, it looked very clean and I smelled it. It had a smell that I associated with a failing motor... hard to describe, but thin, almost like oil and hydrocarbons mixed.

I know that timing chains should be changed every 100,000 - But the 210,000 does concern me. I also heard if the chain snaps in these, you can bend a valve? Is that true that the 1989's had interference motors?

Thank you in advance for your opinions.

  • What do you do when you are the one everyone goes to?

So when you need help and there's no one there, because you have always had the answers and you are the one everyone depends on. Where do you go for help? Parents are very old and actually part of the problem and religion is out.
