  • Home repair to 1/4 Red Ring Of Death?

My son's Xbox 360 gave him the dreaded Red Ring Of Death. It is only the bottom right quarter that is red.

I plan to fix it myself. I've built all of my computers for 20 years, and I have a pretty good electronics background. I never got really into his xbox, but I played a pretty mean NES back in the day.

Here's what I need to know:

Is there any way to troubleshoot the codes? By that, I mean is there a manual out there, or a website that I can refenence?

Where do they sell replacement parts? Do I have to go through microsoft?

Is there a way to fool the xbox into not reading the trouble code?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Please do not suggest that I send the unit to shadyjoesxboxrepair.com, or something similar, because I would rather buy a new one than send it to a third party repairer.

  • Help For A Broken Evergreen Tree?

I originally asked this in Science-Botany, but it was buried by kids asking homework problems within 5 minutes, so I'll post it here. Anyway...

We had some high winds here the past few days.

My property is ringed with beautiful mature evergreen trees. These are taller than 50 feet.

Last night, one of them snapped due to the wind about 10-12 feet above the ground.

I know that the part that broke off is firewood now, but can the base of the tree be saved? If so, how?

If not, I'm just going to cut the entire thing down tomorrow.
