My wife and I are looking for some trip ideas in the Tulsa/northeastern Oklahoma. area.?
We're up for just about anything and are not afraid of driving. The weather is always a consideration; we're trying to avoid the heat as best we can. Any ideas? Cool hotels? Sights? Day trips? This might also count as an anniversary type outing as well, depending on the $$$$$ situation at the time.
3 AnswersOther - United States10 years agoWhat is the most wind resistant tent you can get for beach camping?
My wife and I are camping on the beach at Galveston Island State Park this spring/summer. We currently have a Coleman dome tent, but it tends to really bend and flex in the wind. We're looking for something a little more sturdy. We usually keep most of our gear and stuff outside the tent under a gazebo shelter, so storage, gear lofts, vestibules, etc. are not that big of an issue. We want to make this a longer stay than normal. A more sturdy tent that doesn't cave in and use up all the interior space will make all the difference.
We'd like plenty of room if possible. My wife and I are both....uh...."full figured" so the person capacity needs to be a bit "negotiable.".
5 AnswersCamping1 decade agoHas anyone been to Galveston Island State Park recently?
My wife and I used to go camping there every summer until the hurricane hit. We're trying to find out what shape the park is in.
1 AnswerOther - United States1 decade agoWhy does my emperor 400 filter lose water when i decrease the flow volume?
I like to decrease the flow volume when I feed, but after a few seconds, the pump sounds like it's gasping. Like when you start it up and it needs priming. I usually wind up raising the control up a notch which seems to take care of the gasping problem, but winds up drawing a bunch of food into the filter and shortening my filter life. Is this normal? Any ideas? Suggestions?

2 AnswersCell Phones & Plans1 decade agoHow do you feel about the Odyssea brand of aquarium lights?
I found a really great deal on a compact t5 light and was wondering if it was any good. I had never heard of that particular brand until the other day.
1 AnswerFish1 decade agoHow do I replace the blower motor in my 2005 dodge grand caravan?
Turned on the A/C and nothing came out. The blower has been sounding kinda funny. I'm assuming that the blower motor has gone out. Any other ideas? Taking it to the dealer is not an option. ($$)
1 AnswerMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoWhere can I find an inflatable lounge, tube, or float that is sturdy enough for the river?
I'm going on a float trip next weekend and I was looking around for something besides a raft or inner tube to float on. I once saw in a pool supply catalog some things that were meant to be used on the river. They were extra sturdy and made of very durable material. Everything else that I find is meant for swimming pools or just splashing around. Any ideas?
A cup holder or cooler area would be a tremendous bonus!
Anything?
2 AnswersWater Sports1 decade agoWhy does my aquarium heater get too hot?
I have it set on the lowest setting and it keeps on heating up to 85 degrees. Is it defective or do I need to do something different? It's a 100 watt heater in a 20 gallon tall freshwater tank with an airstone and whisper power filter that really churns up the water?
5 AnswersFish1 decade agoWhere do I want to live in Little Rock, AR?
My job might be moving me to Little Rock in a few months. Where's the cool place to live? It will be myself and my wife. We are 33 and 31 years old and quite open-minded. We don't like crime or bugs but we do enjoy a good time. People watching is our favorite hobby. Good food, friends, and a couple of drinks makes for a great night for us.
1 AnswerOther - United States1 decade agoIs a protein skimmer and sump really necessary for a saltwater aquarium?
I want to set up a saltwater tank but can't afford a sump, protein skimmer, canister, etc. I saw a tank at a friend's house that been running on a Emperor Bio-Wheel filter for a long time with no problems. Is this ok?
11 AnswersFish1 decade agoShould a guy wear boxers or briefs when going out into the wilderness?
My wife and I are planning on doing some primitive backwoods camping and I was wondering if I should wear boxers or briefs on this outing. Boxers are cool and comfortable, but can cause chafing and irritation in particular areas. But, briefs can be constricting and don't breathe as well as boxers, which can also cause chafing in other areas. I'm kinda hefty if it makes any difference. 5'11" 230lbs.
Any ideas or suggestions?
14 AnswersCamping1 decade agoCan I get from Tulsa, OK to Calgary, Alberta by train?
After seeing the films "The Darjeeling Limited" and "Silver Streak", my wife and I want to take a train trip. We love Canada and had planned on going to Calgary next summer anyway. Seems like a train ride would be the ultimate. Any suggestions?
2 AnswersCalgary1 decade agoShould I use gravel or sand in my tropical freshwater aquarium. ?
I have a 55 gallon freshwater tank with an assortment of mollies, guppies, and platys. I currently have standard Wal-Mart issue aquarium gravel on the bottom. Is there any benefit to sand? I want to diversify my fish varieties and have read that some of the more exotic fish like a sandy bottom for scavenging or hiding? Any thoughts?
3 AnswersFish1 decade agoIs there any type of turtle that I can put in my 55 gallon tropical freshwater tank?
My wife is convinced that we can put a turtle of some type in our 55 gallon freshwater tank. I think it would probably eat what we have or be too big. I also use conditioning salt in the water. Any ideas?
7 AnswersFish1 decade agoHow do I make my emperor 400 filter stop rattling?
I got it used in a trade for my 55 gallon tank. I'm not sure if the impeller is sitting incorrectly or what. Is there a "trick" to it? Do I need to order another one? Does it need a cleaning? Is it worn out? Any info is appreciated. Thanks
2 AnswersFish1 decade agoIs there a good resource for gulf coast surf fishing "how-to" for the novice?
I'm going to Galveston, TX in three weeks and I want to try my hand at surf fishing. I've been a bass, crappie, and catfish fisherman my whole life but have no saltwater experience. I wouldn't know a croaker from a snapper if it bit me on the barnacle. Info on rigging, bait, casting distance, etc. would be especially helpful.
4 AnswersFishing1 decade agoCan/Will a standard Black Mollie and a Dalmation Lyretail Molie mate and bear young.?
I have one of each. The dalmation is female and I saw her engaging in "amorous behavior" with the black mollie.
5 AnswersFish1 decade agoHow can you tell when a Red Wag Platy is going to give birth?
I have a red wag platy that looks to be pregnant. Sometimes her size does fluctuate a little, but it seems to stay the same lately. Is there any sign that will show when she is about to give birth. This is all under the assumption that she is actually pregnant and not just "egg-y" as I like to call it.
2 AnswersFish1 decade agoIs there a web site that I can go to and identify a plant?
I was in the woods today, and my wife found a really interesting plant that we know nothing about. I'm looking for something to help me identify it. i.e., name, poisonous? edible? Harmful to pets?
