Organic Chem Lab Simple Calculation?
The given table of information in my book is
The entry for phthalic acid gives the following solubility data(in grams of solute per 100 mL of solvent). Water - 0.54 at 14 degrees C and 18 at 99 degrees C.
Now, the first question asks for the volume of water needed to dissolve 4.2g of phthalic acid, for which i used the equation:
(4.2g/18g)=(x/100mL) and got 23.33 mL
Did I do this right? because the second part of the question asks if the resulting solution in problem 3 were cooled to 14degreesC, how many grams of phthalic acid would crystallize out, and what would be the percent recovery.....
Im so confused! I fell like its just a simple calculation but I'm just stuck..... any help would be GREATLY appreciated :)! thank you!
1 AnswerChemistry9 years agoForces question- please help?
The charges are placed on the points a equilateral triangle with distances of 1 cm and angles of 60degrees. The bottom two charges are +2nC while the top on is +4.7 nC
What is the magnitude of the force on the top charge Q= +4.7nC?
i tried this many times but cannot get the right answer! i know it has to do with the x and y components but i dont think i am doing it quite right ....PLEASE HELP!!
1 AnswerPhysics1 decade agoResistors in a Parallel?
Resistances of 8Ω and 12Ω are connected in parallel between points
A and B. This combination is in series with another of resistances XΩ
and 16Ω in parallel between points B and C. The voltage between
points A and C is 16V (volts) and the current is 2A. Find the resistance
value X?
im just really confused what to do i keep getting the wrong answer and i dont know why....any help is greatly appreciated!!
2 AnswersPhysics1 decade agophysics wavelength question?
A.)An FM radio station broadcasts at a frequency of 101.3 MHz. What is the wavelength?
-I got the answer to this question, which was 2.96 m
B.)What is the frequency of a sound source that produces the same wavelength in 20degrees C air?
Now....this part of the question i am having great difficulty with...any help is greatly appreciated thanks!!
1 AnswerPhysics1 decade agoElastic Collision -Mastering PHyiscs?
Ball 1, with a mass of 140 g and traveling at 11.0 m/s, collides head on with ball 2, which has a mass of 350 g and is initially at rest.
What are the final velocities of each ball if the collision is perfectly elastic?
i understand how to figure this out for the inelastic collisions because the final velocities are the same, however im stuck on how to solve this because there are 2 unknowns with elastic collisions. any help is greatly appreciated. THANKS!
1 AnswerPhysics1 decade agoKinetic Energy Problem?
On a frictionless horizontal air table, puck A (with mass 0.251 kg) is moving toward puck B (with mass 0.375 kg), which is initially at rest. After the collision, puck A has velocity 0.117 m/s to the left, and puck B has velocity 0.653 m/s to the right.
I got the that the initial velocity of puck A is .859 m/s.....Now-
Calculate DeltaK, the change in the total kinetic energy of the system that occurs during the collision.
I know that deltaKE=KEinitial-KEfinal however i CANNOT seem to get the right answer and i get points deducted for every wrong answer :/
Thanks for your help!!

A cue ball in a billiard game travels directly northeast across the table
or 57 cm and then ricochets off the eight ball to travel 20 cm due west,
before coming to a stop. The net displacement vector of the cue ball
points in the direction closest to:
a. θ= 0.5 radians north of east
b. θ = 0.8 radians north of east
c. due north
d. θ = 1.0 radians north of east
e. θ = 0.5 radians west of north
