  • Spontaneous vision improvement?

I've worn glasses for about 20 years (I'm in my 30's). Suddenly, I don't need my glasses! I had an astigmatism, prism, and I was nearsighted. It started as very blurry vision closeup that was perfect without my glasses. Now I can see nearly perfectly far away too. No need for the prism either! Don't get me wrong, it's nice, but I'm quite curious about it. I went to the doctor and he said he's seen it a few times in his 35 years as an eye doc. What causes this? Goodness this is weird!

  • Any information about Gastroparesis?

I know it's a nerve disorder of your gut. I was diagnosed earlier this year. I've lost a lot of weight from constant nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, no cravings, and an aversion to many foods. Food sits in my stomach for quite a while and doesn't move on. I feel full after just a few bites of whatever.

It's a chore to remember to eat because I have no desire. It feels like I have a hard crampy painful rock in my stomach. I know that some of these symptoms occur during pregnancy, but there's no chance of that.

I had an upper stomach test to look inside my stomach, and even after being without food and water for 12 hours, I still had food in my stomach.

This nerve thing usually happens with diabetics. I've had several blood tests -I'm not diabetic. I also cannot take Reglan or Erythromycin, supposed treatments for this, because of an allergy.

Any suggestions? Words of hope? New treatments? Help!

  • Why do the iris parts of our eyes lighten as we get older?

I've heard that it's normal for your eye color to lighten with age. Is that true? I was born with black (yes, totally black) eye color. Now I'm in my 30's and they've changed to light caramel color. What could cause this if age isn't the culprit? Is it a sign of something serious?

I recently went to the eye doctor just to get a new glasses prescription. I forgot to ask about the color change but he didn't say anything looked strange.

  • Why do we have sharks?

I'm watching (off and on) the Discovery Channel's week-long special on Sharks. It just gets me wondering... why do we have sharks? They don't seem like very cuddly creatures (LOL). They're not cute and it's not safe to swim around them. They pretty much just wreak havoc on the rest of the ocean. So... why?

  • Patanol eye drops side effects question?

I recently started using Patanol for dry eyes.

There are many puzzling things in medicine but this one is particularly interesting...

Why do the side effects list "dry eye" as a side effect? The drops are specifically made to treat dry eye!

    umm...huh?!?

  • On Seinfeld, why did George almost marry Susan when he didn't want to?

    I can't remember why...

Thanks to my Tivo :) I'm watching Seinfeld reruns all the time, and I haven't found the answer in other episodes.

Also, do you wish the show would come back? I do!

  • Shortcut for starting screen saver?

I'd like to be able to start my computer's screen saver as soon as I leave my desk. I have a password that locks the computer once the screen saver comes on. I don't want to have to stand there until it comes on.

FYI, I have Windows XP Home Edition.

    Thanks!

  • What did the Dixie Chix say to make people hate them?

    Was it about the war?

I know it was several years ago so I can't remember what it was about. Still, even saying their name still evokes a very negative response.

I'm not "into" celebrities and their usually obnoxious behavior, so I probably just wrote it off as another stunt to get more publicity. But even the mention of their name still makes people furious! Help me out.

  • How do Jersey Wall movers (zippers) work?

I'm vacationing in California and I saw something pretty amazing! There's a machine that moves the concrete Jersey wall that divides the highway lanes. The Jersey wall has been previously cut into blocks. The machine moves along the road on a track over the blocks and moves the blocks of concrete. It makes three lanes in the morning going in one direction and moves the wall to make three walls in the other direction in the afternoon. It's on a bridge out here. I've never seen anything like it! It's really neat to see! There's no stopping allowed on the bridge so I couldn't get a very good picture of it. I did get a pretty good picture of the concrete blocks that it picks up. I can't find any information on it anywhere on the 'net. Does anybody know how this machine works? Help! I'm really curious.

  • Itchy eyes!?

    I can't stand it anymore!

My eyes feel so sandy and itchy. It's just the area around my eyes. It just feels so dry. Eye drops didn't help. I used the plain saline drops, not the ones for allergies since those tend to dry out the eye. I tried Benedryl for the itching but it seemed to make things worse, plus Benedryl always makes me hyper, not sleepy (weird, I know). My eyes are not bloodshot and they don't hurt, weep or tear. I don't wear contacts, I wear glasses. I'm on the computer a lot, but I take several breaks so as not to strain my eyes. I put some hypoallergenic fragrance-free moisturizer around my eyes but that only helped for an hour or two. It's like I just can't leave them alone because of the severe itching. The part around my eyes is pretty red from rubbing on them. I have a humidifier in my room because I thought that would help. Nothing's working!!! Help!

  • Any info on Thrush?

A dear friend of mine was diagnosed with Thrush. It simply won't go away, despite all the treatment methods the doctors have tried. He's had it since Thanksgiving (2006)! It's just not going away. He already suffers from depression and the Thrush is making his mental health situation worse! His depression has really increased since this Thrush mess started. He's tried various mouth washes, antibiotics, antifungals, and antivirals. He is not immunosuppressed and he doesn't have HIV or AIDS. He's not diabetic. I'm really worried about him! Any ideas?

  • Any info on Alli?

There's a new drug out there that's just been approved by the FDA. It's a weight loss drug that (supposedly) actually works! The short article I read said it would be over-the-counter. I can't find any more info on the 'net. When is it going to be available to the public? Anyone with info?

  • Who was the first to share a bed on TV?

On TV, who was the first married couple to share a bed? What year was that? A trivia site I subscribe to on the 'net says it was the Munsters, but my dad (a self-proclaimed trivia Guru) says it was Ozzy and Harriett. Does anybody know or have a site with the true answer?

  • Where is "The 15 fears of men"?

Yahoo had a story a few days ago about the 15 greatest fears of men. I can't find it anywhere on their site, news or otherwise. I'd like to read it. I ran out of printer paper on the day I saw it and I didn't have time to read it either. Help!

  • How much Provigil is too much?

I have been extremely exhausted for the past 9 days. I'm falling asleep in public, like while waiting for the car to warm up in the driveway. Dad had to cell me to wake me up just in time for me to make it to the appt only a couple minutes late. I had some labwork on Tuesday. They did a CBC w/manual differential, both of which I'm not familiar with, like what the test will show. My bestest buddy (known her for 22 years!) she scared me to *death* and told me I meet all the criteria for leukemia. She's the self-proclaimed Queen of the Internet...ARRGH!!! What can I do in the meantime?

I called my pdoc yesterday and he said I could take double

I usually take 200mg a day of the Provigil. I also take several other meds all of which I've been taking for several years with no real problems.

Now when I called my pdoc today, he said I could take 400mg at 9am then 400mg at 12noon.

I've fallen asleep twice while writing this so I hope it makes at least a little sense.

  • Personality part of the brain?

I need to know what part of the brain is the last part of the brain to "close" at around age 9 or 10. It's the part of the brain that holds the personality. Any help is appreciated.

  • Can mental health drugs cause acne?

I'm on several drugs for (well documented) Bipolar disorder type 1: Lamictal, Lithium, Effexor, Zyprexa, Seroquel, Provigil, and a few for other illnesses: Advair, Singulair, and Nexium. Could these be the cause of my unrelenting acne? I even have scars from them and it's embarrasing to be in my 30's and have acne. I do not break or pick the pimples. The acne just won't go away, despite many skin treatments containing salacylic acid (My skin turned beet red from benzoyl peroxide). I use antibacterial soap and a soft washcloth on my face twice a day then I put the salycilic acid gel on my entire face. I can't take the antibiotics that are sometimes given for acne because they screw up my stomach. What can I do?

  • Flu or something else?

I have not had the classic flu since I was 9 years old (I'm in my 30's). I feel weak and dizzy, no energy - everything I do makes me exhausted. Just walking up the stairs is a real effort. I'm throwing up everything I eat and drink, even plain water. I've been throwing up medicine which I need for my heart, both day time and night time. Any suggestions on that? The pills cannot be crushed because they are time-released. What are the symptoms? Do I have the flu? What can I do about it? Please help! I feel horrible.
