Is it cheaper to launch a rocket when the moon is over head?
8 AnswersAstronomy & Space6 years agoIf you have an infinite natural lifespan, what is your life expectancy?
Assuming you can live forever, how long will you live before something weird kills you, like a car accident, choking on a hot dog, or illness(not associated with old age)?
2 AnswersMathematics9 years agoIf age related illnesses are neglected as a cause of death, what is the average lifespan of a human being?
In other words, how long can a person expect to live before they succumb to illness, murder, or an accident. What can actuarial science tell us about lifespan, life expectancy, mortality rates if we stopped aging passed 30 or so?

3 AnswersPhysics1 decade agoHow is the rotation of a satellite effected by its orbit around the Earth?
If a rocket ship in orbit is only acted on by earths gravity how will it rotate about its center of gravity. Will the force of the earth cause it to rotate or will it's rotation remain zero with respect to its center of gravity?
I'm trying to model the trajectory of a rocket to reach the moon and determine the duration of the thrust. The rocket starts out in a circular orbit about the earth before it is ignited. I can't figure out if the thrust vector should always point in the same direction or if it will point in the direction of the velocity vector.
I tried to generalize this problem of rotation by considering a very long object in rotation. The end of the object closest to the earth would have a higher velocity than the end furthest away. So it would seem that the objects rotation about its center of gravity would be in the opposite direction of its rotation about the earth.
Does this make sense?

5 AnswersDogs1 decade agopower steering pump malfunction?
I've replaced the power steering pump twice in my 2000 Honda Civic. I have an idea why this might be happening and I want to know if it is plausible. I know that my AC compressor isn't working properly. When the engine is idling and the air conditioner is running the idle drops to the point that the AC compressor turns on and off rapidly. In the past I would take a turn with the clutch pressed in and the engine was at idle speed. I'm also aware of what the steering feels like when the belt slips. I think that when I tried to make a turn with the AC running the idle speed would be to low to provide sufficient power to the power steering pump.
Could this wear out the pump?
The other possibility is that when I replaced the pump the first time I didn't flush the system and the left over contaminants lead to the demise of the second pump.
Does any of this make sense? and what should I do to prevent the loss of another power steering pump?
5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoWill the North Carolina Department of Revenue seize a vehicle with negative equity to collect on a tax debt?
For example, if I own a car and a motorcycle, will they seize the motorcycle even if I owe more than it is worth?
Does it depend on circumstances?
2 AnswersUnited States1 decade agoHow much is my motorcycle worth?
It is a 2008 Yamaha R6S. Under 4000 miles. About 2 months ago I let it get away from me and it went sliding down the street. The plastics are scratched and a bolt that holds the side fairing to the frame broke out of its hole. The peg broke off and the crankcase cover is damaged.
How much does this effect the value of my motorcycle?
6 AnswersMotorcycles1 decade agoOffer In Compromise, North Carolina Department of Revenue?
The NCDOR wants to collect $18,000 in taxes and penalties. I am a student, with 2 and a half years of school left. I currently have $4000 in credit card debt, $5,000 in student loans and counting. I also owe about $11,000 for a bike that is now worth about $6,000. I own a car that's worth about $3,500 and I'm currently unemployed and living off of grants, scholarships and loans.
Assuming that I am eligible, what would be an appropriate offer in compromise that the NCDOR would accept on this $18,000 debt.

If the atmosphere is warming then heat within the earth can't escape as quickly. How will this effect volcanic and earth quake activity. Are there any other artists that can carry the eerily strong vocals that Massive Attack uses in Mezzanine, or the Bizzarre sounds of Portishead, or the utterly perplexing tunes of Goldfrapp in Felt Mountain as her voice literally drips into your ears and transends that one sense and caresses all other senses. What other artists have utilized eerily sweet vocals blended with strange synthesisations and incomprehesable tunes?
