Is this traditional?

For the past several years, I've been tearing the corner of the envelope when I get mail so I can keep the stamp. What to do with them now?

I heard an interview with the historian James Burke in which he said he was inspired when he was young by reading a historian who wrote about medieval history (connecting the introduction of the stirrup with historical events that followed). He called or wrote this professor and asked if he could borrow the idea as the basis for many more in a series he wanted to write. The man said, 'I borrowed it so YOU Can borrow it too.' The man said, 'You don't think we are born with ideas, do you?'

this was the last step in the solution to a problem. the thing is, it's actually in the denominaor and there is just the number 7 in the numerator. After simplifying, 2(square root of 55) is in the denominator and the 7 stays unchanged in the numerator. How the heck did they do that?

What is her name and what is the name of the book? She was an older single woman perhaps living in Texas. Perhaps she was a newspaper columnist. I heard or read recently of a lingustic discovery: a language (perhaps in Central or South America, possibly with ancient roots) in which, instead of looking forward at the future, the speakers look backward at the future. And instead of looking back at the past, they look forward at the past. There was actually an explanation for this that made some sense. Don't remember the explanation and wish to know more about it.
