  • Ever hear of "otovent" and where can I get one in the US?

My 5 yr old recently had the tubes in his ears removed. We went to the ear Dr. for a check up today and there was fluid behind his right ear drum. The Dr. suggested using an Otovent to teach my son how to "pop" his ears, otherwise, we could be looking at some more ear infections down the road. He said he didn't have any of these devices - that if I Googled it, I should be able to find them but I only found sites from the UK. I was looking for some thing that is "closer"....LOL Please HELP!! I can't go through another nasty cycle of ear infections!!!

  • ID of unknown in Micro bio lab - contamination!?

The sample given to me from my professor was contaminated. She realized this after reviewing my gram stain. I performed all other tests just to learn "technique" even though I wouldn't be able to identify my unknown....well, my question is - If I were in a "real" lab and had a contaminated bacteria sample, how would I go about identifying it?

    Thanks!

  • Obama's experience ??? Do you agree? If not, why not?

This cuts through the crap and zeroes in on the gut issue quickly! Are we all aboard the USS Ship of Fools? Makes me wonder!

You couldn't get a job at McDonalds and become district manager after 143 days of experience.

You couldn't become chief of surgery after 143 days of experience of being a surgeon.

You couldn't get a job as a teacher and be the superintendent after 143 days of experience.

You couldn't join the military and become a Colonel after a 143 days of experience.

You couldn't get a job as a reporter and become the nightly news anchor after 143 days of experience.

You couldn't become a police officer and become the Chief of Police after 143 days of experience.

You couldn't work on the assembly line and become the President of General Motors after 143 days of experience

    BUT....

'From the time Barack Obama was sworn in as a United State Senator, to the time he announced he was forming a Presidential exploratory committee, he logged 143 days of experience in the Senate.

That's how many days the Senate was actually in session and working.

After 143 days of work experience, Obama believed he was ready to be Commander In Chief, Leader of the Free World, and fill the shoes of Abraham Lincoln, FDR, JFK and Ronald Reagan. 143 days?

We all have to start somewhere. The senate is a good start, but after 143 days, that's all it is - a start.

AND, strangely, a large sector of the American public seems to feel comfortable with this and campaigning for him. This makes me wonder...

We wouldn't accept this in our own line of work, yet some are OK with this for the President of the United States of America ?

Come on folks......... we are not voting for the next American Idol.

    CuSO4 . 5H2O --> CuSO4 + 5H2O

If my sample contained a volatile impurity, would my determination of the percent of water in the hydrate be too high or too low?

  • Wisdom tooth to be pulled - Dentist or Oral Surgeon?

I need to have a wisdom tooth pulled. My dentist said he'd do it - give me plenty of meds to get me high enough not to feel anything. Or I could go to an oral surgeon and be completely knocked out. I don't have insurance so I have to pay myself - I'm afraid to be awake - but I'm thinking it might be cheaper. I never had any teeth pulled so I don't know what to expect! What are the pros and cons to consider? What would you do?

  • Can I get a refund from a dentist for a crown that doesn't fit properly?

I live in NJ. In March 2006 I had a dentist crown one of my molars. Last week I went to a new dentist who took Xrays of my mouth. He found that the crowned tooth was in trouble because the crown my last dentist put on didn't fit the tooth properly. Now, in order to avoid decay (a root canal in the future) I need to have the crown replaced with one that fits. I don't have dental insurance so I paid for that crown with my Visa card. Do I have any recourse? Can I get the price of the crown refunded to me?

  • Can I be refunded for a crown that doesn't fit properly?

I live in NJ. In March 2006 I had a dentist crown one of my teeth. I thought everything was fine, until I went to a new dentist last week. He took the usual several x-rays of my mouth and found a problem with that crown. Apparently,it isn't covering my molar properly and he said that it is imperative that it be replaced before it causes big problems (a future root canal in that tooth). Can I be refunded the money for that crown from the dentist that did it? Do I have ANY recourse?? I don't have dental insurance so I put the previous charges on my Visa card. What can I do - if anything?!?!

  • Child Birthday Party Etiquette - Does he have to attend???

My (son) kindergartner was invited to a classmates birthday party. - A little girl. The party is at her house. I don't know this girl or her parents. The entire class is invited. We received the invitation VERY last minute (5 days before the party). My son doesn't seem very excited about the party - I guess because it's a girl's party and not one of the "guys". I'm also assuming that this will be a drop off pick up party since the children are all five and six years old. I'm uncomfotable leaving my son at someone's house that I don't know. But on the other hand, if I can stay (I'll find out when I RSVP), should I make my son go because he was invited. I'd hate for him to be the only boy at a little girls party even though all the boys were invited. And I'd feel horrible for the girl if over half the class (the boys) don't go to her party.....

    What would you do?
