3 AnswersEthnic Cuisine9 years agoWhat is the most polite way to stop Singaporeans from using racial slurs around me?
I'm really tired of racial slurs being used by Singaporeans who don't understand how offensive they can be. I am a white man and when my friends refer to me as 'Ang mo' (Red haired monkey) I feel absolutely uncomfortable.
So what is the best way to politely ask people to not use racial slurs, while also preventing the need to argue the meaning/origin/offensiveness of the slurs again and again?
Again, I don't want to argue whether these words are offensive or not, I just don't want my friends and coworkers using them towards me when I'm around.
11 AnswersSingapore1 decade agoMtG Vapor Snare: Return a land you control to it's owners hand?
I have the card Vapor Snare
This is the gatherer link:
http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Discussion....
It says that I have to return a land card I own to my hand each turn. Does that mean that at the beginning of my upkeep, I return a land card to my hand, and then I can immediately put it back down again in the same turn? If that was the case, the only effect of this would be that if I drew an additional land card, I wouldn't be able to put it down as I can only put down one land per turn. Is that accurate?
Or does it mean that lands returned to my hand in this way can't be put down until this enchantment is gone?
3 AnswersCard Games1 decade agoDo growing wisdom teeth cause your mouth to smell terrible?
I am 25 and my wisdom teeth are just starting to appear in my jaw. However, I have noticed a terrible smell and taste in my mouth that seems to occur randomly. Brushing, flossing, and mouthwash will remove the smell for a while but it will keep coming back eventually. I haven't changed my eating habits, and this smell is unlike anything I have experienced before in my life.
Is this related to my wisdom teeth or unrelated? I would like to get some information before I see a dentist.
10 AnswersDental1 decade agoHow can I make my own TastyBite brand Bombay potatoes?
A company called Tasty Bite produces pre-packaged indian foods ready to eat - one of them is called bombay potatoes, which is essentially chick peas and potatoes in a brown gravy. Does anyone know how to make this dish? I have looked up several recipes for bombay potatoes but found them to be completely different in nature to this dish, and I have also looked up several chickpea curry recipes and came up with unsatisfactory or unexpected results.
2 AnswersEthnic Cuisine1 decade agoWhat is the easiest way to make a basic curry sauce out of curry powder?
My goal is to make a generic curry sauce (not a full dish like curry chicken, etc) that I can use to dip bread in, serve on plain rice as a gravy, and so on. The curry powder I have contains the following ingredients:
Corriander, Chilli, Cumin, Fennel, Tumeric, Dhal, Pepper, Cinnamon, Cardamom, Star Anise, Cloves, "And other spices"
Thank you!
6 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoShould I remove the dead leaves from my Sarracenia plant?
My tropical Sarracenia pitcher plant has about 8 live, green pitcher leaves, and 2 or 3 brown wilted ones. Should I *carefully* remove the dead leaves, or should I leave them alone? If I should remove them, should I trim them off leaving the stem at the base, or should I try to remove them as completely as possible? I haven't found the answer on a number of reputable carnivorous plant website, so please don't just tell me to google it.
2 AnswersBotany1 decade agoWhere can I find monologues in mandarin?
I need to learn a monologue that's in mandarin for a few upcoming auditions. But, I can't find one anywhere. I speak and read some Chinese, but I am far from perfect so I need to find something that isn't too complicated. Also, I'd prefer if it's contemporary and not historical.
2 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoWhat are some good quality in-ear headphones that don't go around the back of your neck?
I bought the Sennheiser CX-300's and while I really enjoyed the audio quality, I absolutely hated the behind the head design. And also when the wires would rub on my clothes all I could hear was this deafening scraping sound that would always drive me nuts.
So what are some good in ear headphones that don't go behind the head/neck, and also don't make a lot of noise when you touch the wires?

I would like to connect my Xbox 360 via wi-fi, but I don't want to buy the overpriced microsoft adapter. I found this article which claims you can connect your xbox to a laptop via a LAN cable and use your laptop as a wifi receiver. Is this true, or is this nonsense?

3 AnswersXbox1 decade agoWhat is the meaning of this historical quote?
“No experience has taught us, that in other course or method than that of hereditary crown, our liberties can be regularly perpetrated and preserved sacred as our hereditary right.” - Edmund Burke
Does this mean, that a monarchy based on hereditary ascension WILL protect peoples rights, or WILL NOT protect their rights?

In VLC (Video Lan player) I change the skin to another one I've downloaded (I have several) and then then skin applies and I can see it and use it. If I close VLC and open it again, the skin will be gone and I have to reapply the setting. How can I fix this?

I have an external hard drive, and one day all of my 150gb of files are completely gone. According to Windows the space is still being consumed but there is no sign of the files. I tried using the R-linux utility and it was able to find 40gb of data, but it's all random nonsense files.
4 AnswersDesktops1 decade agoWhy can't I get an EDGE connection with my Blackberry 8800 on Singtel?
I got a new phone from work with a corporate Singtel unlimited dataplan and I cannot ever get anything more than GPRS connections. Is there a reason for this? I know the 8800 supports EDGE and that Singtel has UMTS/HSDPA, so why can't I get a simple EDGE connection...?
I'm confused.
1 AnswerMobile Phones & Plans1 decade agoHow much does it cost to see a REAL doctor in Singapore?
I have no idea how the Singaporean health system works, but assuming that I want to see a real doctor and not one of those shopping mall "walk in and take a number" style doctors, where would I find one and how much would it cost me? Is this something I would go to a hospital for (non emergency) or do I find a doctor running a private office?
I couldn't find any resources on the web and no one I know in Singapore has been able to answer me.
11 AnswersSingapore1 decade agoCan I just move to singapore and find a job or do I need to get a work permit first?
I am absolutely confused about this. I'm am American moving to Singapore in January to live with my fiance (Malaysian PR in Singapore) and all of the government websites have left me with no usable information.
Is it possible for me to just move to Singapore on a 90 day tourist visa, find a company that will hire me, and have them file for a work permit for me or is there some other way I have to do it? My fiance claims this is how she did it but I can't find any evidence supporting that this is possible for a non-Malaysian.
2 AnswersImmigration1 decade agoI can't login to QQ using Luma QQ for mac anymore?
I installed luma qq for mac yesterday and I was able to login and use the program without any problems. But later that same evening and all of today I can no longer login. The system prompts me to enter in the captcha (The 4 letters to verify you are a person and not an automated system) and after that it says 'Verifying password'... and it hangs for an indefinete time (I've let it sit for up to an hour without it changing or even prompting me with an error). The software is developed by a group of people in China and I don't speak Chinese so I can't ask them for help.
Any ideas? Is there a software update available or upcoming?
