    Does anybody has got his passport issued in 2006. I need to confirm my passport no where I have doubt. I haven't received my passport yet, but I have got the no. The no is in the format EXXXXXXXXX, where X is a number. There are 9 digits preceded with "E". I have checked others passport (quite a lot) and I see only 7 digits no with a letter issue back in 2001-02. Does my passport with E and 9 digits seems to be correct (issue in May-2006)

    Is an Indian passport number EXXXXXXXXXIN seems to be correct. Is that is the format of newly issued passports. I am sending invitation letter to my cousin from Canada. My cousin is yet to receive his passport, however, he got the passport no from the passport office. I doubt if that is the correct format of passport or he has got some other number instead of the passport number
