Who remembers Apollo 8? Isn't it true that Apollo 11 was a "milk run" when compaired to what Apollo 8 faced?
Why has history marked Apollo 11 for greatness when it was Apollo 8 who was suddenly cast into the role of being the first to leave Earth and sent to the moon in an untested spacecraft on an untested rocket to preform duties not yet attempted by unmanned Apollo spacecraft? The only thing that prevented Apollo 8 from lunar landing was the fact the lem was yet to be delivered to NASA. Apollo 8 paved the way, took all the risks involved with untested equiptment and reached the moon over 6 months before Apollo 11 was launched. Yet Apollo 11 gets all the glory while history forgets Apollo 8. Does that seem fair?
5 AnswersAstronomy & Space2 decades agoIs it right to deny access to answers due to a disability or low income?
My friend, a yahoo member was prevented from posting a question in answers today because his keyboard only prints upper case letters. he was advised it was rude. when he protested, yahoo allowed him to ask the rest of us what we thought of their policy? but then refused to allow him to ask that question because he can only respond in caps. disabled & living on small fixed income, that broken keyboard is his only outside contact. is that fair?

2 AnswersSecurity2 decades agoCPU usage suddenly jumps to 100% with nothing else running! I know this can't be good. HELP!?
don't know squat about computers, only that my boys needed one for school. Have a Dell Dimension 3000, Windows XP Pent 4 and it's black. Otherwise, I have no idea what makes the thing tick. Only that everything started going wrong on the day we hooked up on the internet via SBC Yahoo! AT&T internet service. One problem after another since that day last month. Have spent more hours on phone with tect support then online. They send new software, tell me all is well with that problem only to have different problem pop up minutes later. Have lost all respect for their support teams. Trying to pay my way with Yahoo by answering questions. Over 50 questions past two weeks, many top answers, so in my field, I am no dummy. Computers, that's another world. Now I'm turning to you for help with my problem. This CPU thing is totally beyond me. Thanks! rob-hansen@sbcglobal.net A.K.A. "garden dok" at Answers.
8 AnswersOther - Computers2 decades agoHow do you get a ghost out of a computer? Original owner died suddenly, took passwords to the grave with her.?
got a new computer as a gift. original owner died suddenly & took all her passwords to the grave with her. the machine is full of junk i don't need, but as a "guest" on her machine i have little control over any of the important controls. everywhere i go i'm blocked by her ghost asking for a password. is there any way to get rid of her ghost & take over as administrator? when her family cleaned out her stuff after the funeral, they tossed out most of her software too. to us, it's a dream machine i could never afford for my school age boys. (we were still using windows 3 1 on our old machine) are we stuck with a fancy door stop? can anybody help with problem? can anyone help me do a step by step at removing the extra junk we can't use? i'm afraid i may delete something important, necessary to run the system or other essencial part. without her password, am i out of luck? should i dig my windows 3 1 machine out of the trash? is this a hopeless cause? help! rob-hansen@sbcglobal.net
