50+ years with dogs. Worked for a vet. Volunteer at several canine shelters. Owned, bred, raised, trained and showed Australian Shepherds. Owned and trained Irish Setter, Miniature Schnauzer, Labrador, Beagles, Australian Cattle Dog and a Chihuahua mix. Trained Dalmatian and German Shepherds. 30+ years with horses. Owned, bred, trained and shown Quarter Horses, Arabians, Mustang, Paints and Appaloosas. Ridden American Saddlebred and Tennessee Walking Horses. 10+ years with cats. Also owned/nurtured ducks, chickens, rabbits, turtles, Raccoons, white tailed deer, tarantula, pigs.
My old dog keeps licking herself and licking the carpet and her dog bed. Why do you think she is doing this?
I have a 13 year old Australian Shepherd spayed female. She is an inside dog, except when she goes outside to do her business and play. She is constantly licking her front legs, not her paws, and licking her dog bed, or the carpet where she is laying down. Any ideas what could be going on? We are planning a trip to the vet soon, just curious if anyone else has experienced this.

I have a lifetime of experience with horses but no college degree. I have been without horses since a divorce 18 years ago. I informed my son the other day that I want to go to school and get a degree in Equine Science and he told me it will be a waste of time and money. I am hoping to get back into horses next year and start training and showing soon after. Should I do it?

I have a 1994 Honda Magna. I do not ride passengers. Would like the stability a backrest gives me and need something to strap down luggage - stuff to take to work. Everything I have found goes behind the passenger seat.
