Why do we think in the short term regarding population and climate problems?
Considering that the planet Earth is around 4-5 Billion years old, and is going to exist for around the same amount of time again before the Sun explodes and eats us all up putting a final end to religious arguments, what will the population of the planet be, all usual things considered and all else being equal, in 1,000, 10,000, 100,000, 1,000,000 and 10,000,000 years be? Does anybody care and, if not why not? This is a deep question, be as expansive in your answer as you wish.

Our new puppy has been diagnosed positive for parvovirus. He is at the vet on medication. My wife doesn't want to have him back for fear of infecting the children. Is her fear justified?
