  • Can I use a laptop with the AC plug while fully charged?

I have recently purchased a new laptop, a Dell Inspiron 15R and I'm getting mixed messages about using the supplied AC adapter on the system when it's charged.

The online manual said "You may improve the battery performance by:

    • Using the computer while connected to an electrical outlet when

possible. Battery life reduces with the number of times the battery is

    discharged and recharged."

Yet I've also been told while it won't hurt the system I can still use it by battery alone and recharge at 10-15% power. Since I use the laptop a lot as it's basically what I have until I fix my 10 year old desktop I was wondering what I should follow: manual or other? This is my first laptop and I don't want to break it in the first month.

  • Does the new status bar page on Where's My Refund on IRS.gov vanish?

So far I'm not liking the new WMR page on IRS.gov. It either sticks or vanishes. Yesterday it was working fine and had moved to the approved box with DD set for 2/12/13. Now this morning, the whole bar page is gone & WMR is back to the older regular looking page saying the return is being processed. So I'm not sure if it's because today is a Saturday and the new page isn't working or if it's too early or what. Has anyone else had this issue with the new status bar just up and vanishing? It's very hard to tell to expect the DD when things start bouncing back and forth. I understand new systems and a lot of people are using it but it should at least stay working even on the weekend.

  • Has anyone moved past the taxes received and been processed stage on the IRS.gov website yet?

My brother e-filed his taxes using TaxAct on Monday (Feb. 4th) and he received the normal e-mail of receipt for both his Federal and State taxes from TaxAct and by using the new 'Where's My Refund' page on IRS.gov that shows the nifty new status bar it only still shows receipt and that his Federal taxes are being processed. I know the new status page is new but it normally doesn't take this long for him to get an idea of a DD date or if there's an issue or anything. So has anyone moved past that processing stage on that page yet and if so, how long has it taken? The IRS person said to wait 21 days but that also for the past several years hasn't taken more than a little over a week to get his refund.

  • Can someone die in their sleep from liver failure?

Back in the early '90's my brother was told his liver was damaged. He didn't quit drinking as was suggested. Now, in the past 2 weeks both of his feet have swelled until rounded & his skin seems to have taken on a yellowish cast. I believe he might have other symptoms but won't discuss them and he won't go to the ER so I'm wondering if people can die in their sleep from a failing liver if left unchecked.

  • New Yahoo web-address, m.www.yahoo.com ,is it safe to access or what is it?

Up until today, I never noticed the m. in the address and my Comcast toolbar is red flagging as a potential risk. I can bypass it, but I'm not sure what's happening. When I log in, my safety image is still there but it's just seems to act up on the homepage and on mail.

  • Is there a forest in England spooky looking for a scene in a book?

I'm researching for the second book in my five part paranormal/romantic suspense series and the first chapter has to be set in England in, preferrably, a wooded setting like a forest or something in order so this character, who is majoring in geology, would have an excuse to be there. I'm not sure to try to base this scene on a real location or make one up in a general locale.

A little background so it explains why I need or would prefer spooky woods or a location that would be suitable is my character is a witch(along with his brothers) and I need to work in some really ugly looking demon dogs. Finding a perfect location is driving me insane so suggestions are of course welcome.

  • A Settled Debt through a lawyer being reopened by a different Debt collector?

This spring I had a credit card debt turned over to a lawyer. The lawyer contacted the CC company to make a lower settlement which I then completed. I have a letter from the lawyer's office stating the debt is paid in full.

Today I get a notice from a new collection agency stating this debt is still active and according to them nothing was ever paid on it yet the lawyer's office whom I spoke with today still says it's paid as was agreed upon.

I faxed their paper to the agency. My question is, has this ever happened to anyone before and what can be done? I certainly can't afford to pay this bill twice when I was assured it was paid.

  • Why won't the avatars work with the 360 images today or lately?

I switched my old avatar today which was my original Yahoo 360 image. As soon as I did, once it was finally gone since it took over an hour to get it gone, now no new image will work. All I get is the white box with red X in it.

Yet, my created Yahoo avatar will work fine.

  • How to know if you're qualified for the tax rebate?

Both my mother and I get social security, her's is normal and mine is disability. People said to file the correct form since we don't normally have to file and we did. Mailed them on March 1st. I've been calling the IRS hotline for 3 weeks and yet they have no reocrd of either return. No clue what to do, since one operator said to refile while another said not to.

Her income is around $15,000 while mine is $11,000.

  • What to do about a credit card bill gotten from Identity theft?

I've recently gotten 2 credit card bills in my name for cards I never applied for nor do I have. I'm on disability and have filed for bankruptcy a few years previous so I couldn't get a card if I wanted one. I'm at a loss for what to do since I can't pay for charges that I didn't make.

  • Help getting fuel oil when can't qualify for state help?

Is there any programs or the like to help get fuel oil when one can't qualify for state help through HEAP program? My mother gets social security and I'm on disability and due to new rule changes this year she doesn't qualify for help and we certainly don't have $600.00 for 200 hundred gallons of oil. Any other help out there in Ohio?

  • Can people be sued while they are only receiving Social Security as a sole income?

I've been told by 2 people in the law field that people can't sue when your only income is Social Security. This is my mother's sole income since my father's death and since that's happened it's been hard just to pay what needs to be paid. Now a credit card company is threatening to sue when after bills she barely has $60.00 left a month.
