  • Can you listen to CDs frequently without worrying about loss of quality?

I know if you listen to vinyl repeatedly, the grooves wear into the disc and it makes it lose it's quality. Does this happen with CDs? I know CDs are just read with lasers, but that would make me feel uncomfortable listening to my CDs if they were like vinyl. Any thoughts?

  • How can I print out a wall-to-wall conversation I've had on Facebook?

I want to print out a whopping 17-page conversation I've had with a friend on Facebook, but it seems like you can't because Facebook screws something up during printing, it only prints as much as it can fit in one page...if that makes any sense.

Anyone know how to make Facebook printer-friendly?

  • Why does my microphone automatically mute the audio coming from my speakers?

My microphone (very cheap, its with a Logitech Webcam) for some reason will mute sound that comes from the speakers while it is recording. For example, if I had a song playing off my computer while my mic was recording, the mic's output would sound watered down and muddy. Playing music from an external source (speakers, CD Players, etc) eliminates this watered-down recording, so it must be a conflict between some hardware, I would guess. This problem proves difficult for some important recording techniques, e.g. multitracking, imitating live recordings, etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm running Windows XP Home, my mic is a Logitech Webcam (mic included, whatever you want to call a bundled mic), and my sound card is an ancient Creative Audio PCI card (I use it for the included MIDI port).

  • Where can I find a batch mp3 converter that can compress my mp3s to a smaller quality?

I'm looking for a good free mp3 converter that can batch compress or shrink the bit rate of my mp3s. I have some songs (in mp3 and m4a) that are at 320kbps, which is great but I don't need that much quality. I would love to shrink them down to something more reasonable, like 192kbps or something.

    Thanks!

  • Does the graphic-novel "Blankets" by Craig Thompson have any nudity in it?

I've been meaning to find and check out "Blankets" by Craig Thompson. I'm a bit concerned if Blankets has any nudity in it. I don't care, really, I don't, but I'm worried my parents might get offended by something like that.

If you've read it, please let me know!

  • What time do concerts end, generally?

I'm going to a concert tomorrow night (Tokyo Police Club), which starts at 8:00. I was wondering what time, give or take a half-hour or so, the concert would end. I have been to a concert before but apparently bands have fluctuating end-times.

    Any help?

  • How can I remove my Windows Partition?

    Please Read:

I am trying to reformat my computer. I have a Dell copy of Windows XP Home that came with my computer. Everything went well, till I tried to delete my C: NTFS partition through the Windows setup. It told me that the setup files were still on the drive and the partition couldn't be deleted.

I tried to use an approach I used on my laptop several days ago, where I installed Win 2000 through a floppy drive and then upgraded to XP. This process didn't use my C: drive for setup files. The only problem is, my desktop that I am now formatting doesn't have a floppy disk drive.

Is there anyway to safely remove my windows partition, or somehow redirect these setup files to another drive?

  • Problem with Integrated Sound Card + Creative Sound Card.?

    *********PLEASE READ*********

I have a Dell Dimension Desktop 300, with an Integrated Sound Card from SoundMAX. I also have a MIDI keyboard that I wanted to plug in.

So I just installed a Creative sound card with a Joystick/MIDI port, and my computer recognizes it (driver installed, etc), but sound doesn't come out of it. When I double-check the card, it has some ports to plug wires in: AUDIO IN and TV TUNER. I find a similar port on my motherboard, assuming I don't need to use it. But my computer doesn't get sound from this card, and if I need a cord to wire to my motherboard, I'm screwed, because the cord is probably already integrated to my SoundMAX.

So what am I supposed to do? I don't want to buy a MIDI cord if my sound card doesn't work. But if it doesn't, I'll have to buy a more expensive USB MIDI cord. If you could help me, it would be GREATLY appreciated.

  • Is "secretshopper.com" secure?

You don't have to pay a fee. I don't think it would be a scam, but it does ask for a Social Security Number (it says if you get a payment over $600 dollars, they must fill a form w/IRS), so I don't know! Any help?

  • Free Music Composer?

I need a program to make music, whether it's a Fruity Loops-style looping program, or more notation-based, I just need it to be free!

  • Free Music Composer?

I need a free music composer; Fruity Loops was EXCELLENT, but I always feel bad when I use a pirated license, so I am hoping to find a free music composer. The closest I found was Acid Xpress, but it just kindof mixes the short dittys you have on your computer, (Fruity Loops is that plus the ability to compose those dittys)

If anyone knows of a composer like that, tell me.

PS: I have used Limewire/BitTorrent, so don't even think about mentioning one of those answers.

  • How can I fix the relationship between me and my dog?

So, my dog had coccidia, and she has been sick for a while. If you know about coccidia, it is where the dog has runny droppings and refuses to eat. I took her into my breeder, and after a couple days, my dog was up and kicking.

I was given a calorie supplement that was supposed to be high in fat and calories, and also supposed to be tasty for the dog. Since my dog is a Yorkie, I simply put this supplement on my finger and let her lick it. By the look on her face, she didn't like it, but I kinda put it up to her mouth anyway. I did this about 2 more times in the day, and at the end of the day she seemed aggrevated with me.

Whenever I go to pet her, she cringes and backs away, occasionally biting. If I am around her toys, she grabs them and takes them away, as if to show possession.

I don't think my dog is trying to show that she is higher ranked (or hierachy, whatever) than me, like all the resources say. I really want to know what is going on with my dog, why, and how I can fix it.

  • How can I "hack" my t-mobile phone?

I have a T-Mobile Samsung t209 model, and I couldn't find the ringtone I was looking for, so I was wondering if there is any way to "hack" my phone and give it a ringtone from a song on my computer (or at least an edited 30 sec clip). Also, I need to find this out for wallpapers as well, I found the coolest wallpaper on the internet!

    Much thanks.

  • Can a Nintendo DS Lite connect to a normal DS to play multiplayer?

You know how two Nintendo DS's can hook up wirelessly to play games, like Mario Kart and Advance Wars DS, and I am sure two DS Lite's can, but can a DS and a DS Lite connect? I need to know because my friend is still wanting to keep her old DS while I buy a new one.

PS: All the DS's that have been bought/are going to be bought are in the United States (if that matters)
