  • How much should I expect to pay a solicitor for a deed of excambion (Scots Law)?

I had an extension put on my home and this required a change to my deeds and those of my neighbour, to alter their right of access round the back of my house for the purposes of putting out their bins. The path round the house had been explicitly specified in the original deeds and therefore had to be changed.

As we initiated the situation we agreed to cover the bill for our neighbours' solicitor as well as our own. Their solicitor is charging us £800 for the work. This seems excessive to me. Can anyone out there confirm whether or not this is a reasonable charge?

  • How can DVLA have my car marked as 'exported' when it hasn't been?

I had to contact the DVLA to see about renewing my road tax and they advised me that my car was marked as 'exported' and that they would have to investigate. Should I be worried? The car has never left the country in the two years I have owned it.

  • Why is the temperature gauge on my Seat Leon beeping first thing in the morning?

The temperature gauge reads 60, and the warning light starts flashing. I know this means the engine is too cold, and the temperature goes up to 90 after it's been running for a while, but it has never done this before, despite the temperature being lower than it has been this week. And even when the engine has warmed up to 90, the warning light still flashes, until the next time the engine is switched off and back on. Do I need to do anything with the coolant? It's a three year old Seat Leon 1.4 S.
