  • 1st birthday game question? Thread, dollar bill, shot glass...?

There is a little game that you play with baby on his/her first birthday, but I can't recall all the items you are supposed to put in front of them.

Thread- he will be a crafty and good with his hands

Dollar bill- he will be rich, financially responsible

    Shot Glass- a drunk :-)

and there is definitely one more thing but I cannot remember what it is

    Anyone Know?

  • What have you taken for a cold while breastfeeding?

I was starting the weaning process when I started to feel a cold coming on. I went back to full time breastfeeding to make sure my baby boy got the anti-bodies since I know he cannot take cold meds.

Well now I have reached the point that I need to take something, the cold has progressed viciously to my head and chest.

What have you taken with a cold while breastfeeding? I don't need links to dr. sears, or kelly mom, I've read it all this morning and I just want to know what OTC meds other moms have taken while breastfeeding.

  • 7 month olds eating habits & schedule?

I'm curious what foods you are feeding your month old and how often.

My son isn't on any real schedule (below is just a sample), but I'd like to get him started. He still likes to nurse every 2 hours or so and I'd like to slow it down a little since he seems to only drink a little bit when nursing (maybe 3-4oz at a time).

here's a sample of our day...

    630- nurse

    800- oatmeal cereal & cheerios

    930- nurse

    1130- nurse

100- stage 2 jar and/or whatever I'm eating for lunch & some puffs

    130- nurse

    330- nurse

530- 4-6oz bottle ebm from dad

630- dinner (jar or what we are eating)

    730- nurse AGAIN

830- nurse then off to bed.

    He's a skinny 17lbs, but a tall boy at 28"

I'm thinking of switching to ebm so maybe he will drink more and go longer between feedings, but then I think maybe he just has a high metabolism like his mom.

What's your child's schedule like, I know everyone is different but I just wonder if anyone else's baby eats so much?

  • Breastfeeding moms whose period has returned...?

My period has returned once officially (2 other times I had light spotting) all have been about 30 days apart like my period used to be.

Anyway, I'm suspecting I am going to get it next week because just like last month my nipples became very sore the week before it came. Last week I also had large amounts of CM, EWCM like ovulation. Anyone else have a similar experience... More so with the sore nipples, oh and what feels like a slight decrease in milk production?

  • Poll: When your baby started to "crawl" or became mobile, how did they do it?

I mean when they first started out, before they mastered crawling.

    Did they...

    a. get up on hands and knees in the more traditional manner right away

    b. up on hands, feet on the floor instead of knees

    c. army crawl using elbows, hands, and knees while their belly was on the floor

    d. fore go crawling and bounce from their sitting position

    e. just roll everywhere instead of crawling

    f. some other way

Just wondering, I've seen them do it all and I'm just curious what appears to be most popular

  • Can I did up my bulbs now, my flower bed was over run last year by weeds?

Last summer I was pregnant and paid no attention to my garden and flower beds. Now they are already over run by weeds. Is it okay for me to pull out my bulbs and other plants now, or will it compromise them? I want to start over from scratch basically.

I would wait until the fall to replant my bulbs.

    Any advice?

  • Breastfeeding, spotting, & ovulation?

Ok, I know it’s common to have a period while breastfeeding but I’m curious if anyone else would agree that I am also ovulating.

At 4 weeks post-partum I started bleeding heavy I thought it was just due to increased activity. I was feeling great and went back to doing normal activities and I attributed my bleeding to that.

At 8 weeks I had 2 days of light spotting (was terrified that it was implantation bleeding).

    Today I am 12 weeks post-partum and I had spotting this morning…

So obviously it would appear that I am having a period, but do you think because it’s so light it’s a real period brought on by ovulation? Or just a hormonal thing?

Anyone experienced anything similar and oops became pregnant?

  • Cloth Diaper Users- Nighttime heavy wetter, your best suggestion for AIO or Pocket?

I've had to use disposables at night for my baby boy because he is a very heavy wetter, everything was leaking.

Any suggestions from experience? I hate to keep using the disposables they are truly a hassle at this point and I would like to not have to use them daily.

I am thinking of trying Dry Bees fleece (the nighttime one) because I've heard good things, but I am looking for other opinions too.

  • Bad dream...what happens if you forget your newborn in the hospital parking?

Last night I had one of those crazy pregnancy dreams, you know the vivid ones that seem so real. My husband and I were leaving the hospital with our new baby and we were so distracted by making sure that the car seat base was secure that we drove off with out the baby.

I have had some weird and crazy dreams since becomign pregnant, but this one takes the cake. It seems like such a really possibility. It's really bothering me, I know I won't forget the baby at the hospital, but now I'm thinking it could be so easy to forget...especially when it seems like someone is always forgetting their baby in the car these days. I think it's the only news story I hear.

I know it's just a dream, and I probably shouldn't be worried, but now forgetting my baby is a fear. What can I do to put my mind at ease until my next new mom worry comes along?

***Hint- looks like the baby is sitting and the picture is from underneath, what you see is the butt, legs, and it's...

  • Belly button "popping out"?

So over the last few days I've really noticed that my belly button is going to pop, I'm wondering how long the process took once you noticed it changing. Mine has gotten bigger (widened I guess) and looks like it's flattening out, so I know it's coming. It's so funny to look at, my husband and I laugh so hard when we look at it. LOL, we like to mush my skin together to see the old belly button then we let go to see the new belly button...anyways...

I just want to know how long this process will take or if anyone else recalls watching theirs pop. Did yours slowly start to become an outie, or did it one day just pop?

  • Pregnant and my dog has started to exhibit separation anxiety after 3 years of no problems, any advice?

For the past 3 years her anxiety has been gone, over the last few weeks it is slowly returning (fortunately this time is just the garbage she's spreading around the house and not ripping out my carpets). We are trying very hard to keep the same routines (although Mommy-to-be does sleep in more these days) and we do all we can to make her life easy and remain the same, but no luck yet.

She has also become very close to mommy and wants to be near me all day long ( I don’t mind that at all), but I think it’s only making separation worse when I leave for work. She is 6 years old and is home alone with our other 3 year old dog for about 2-3 hours a day (I leave for work around 2pm and hubby come home around 4pm) so it’s not like she’s cooped up all day without me.

Any advice or similar situations that can help us get through the next 4 months???

  • Anyone taking or has taken Reglan or its generic (Metoclopram) while pregnant?

After 10 weeks (I’m 16 weeks along now) of nausea and vomiting almost daily, in addition to not gaining any weight my doctor has prescribed Metoclopram. It takes the away the sickness and also helps me to, as the doc said "metabolize food better."

I don't need to know about the drug, my hubby and his family are pharmacists and drug researchers. In addition to being familiar with it because my father takes it. I Just want to know if anyone else has taken it any what they experienced.

So far I'm loving the stuff, I haven't even gagged while brushing my teeth which is wonderful and I have tons more energy, but still have a drowsy feeling. It has given me back my appetite, I don't feel so stuffed after eating anymore, and I am becoming "regular" again with less bloating! (Do I sound like a spokes person or what???)

Anyway, I just want to hear your experiences with this or similar Rx's while pregnant...

  • Just curious and want to know about your emotional state during pregnancy...just a poll?

Anything that has to do with parents, grandparents, and children can send me into a crying melt down :-) Ha, I can't even read a greeting card either! I'm not complaining, I am very amused by it because it's just not like me.

    So...

    Were/are you an emotional "wreck?"

What makes you, or made you cry during your pregnancy?

Were/are you able to laugh it off when you think about it?

  • Can I still ride a rollercoaster if I am 12 weeks pregnant?

I've heard and even recall seeing those silly little signs that say pregnant women shouldn't ride certain rides...but when exactly does that go into effect? I can understand if you are pretty far along, or if your stomach is too big to safely wear the harness, but what if you fit just fine?

    Any ideas?

  • Nokia 5300 Video Question?

Why can't I get my phone to play my videos, they worked the first time now they don't. When you first open the video it says play, but then the option to play it goes away. The videos are the right format and all that, but I just cannot get it to play on the phone. It plays just fine in Nokia PC Suite.

I've checked Nokia websites and forums but nothing seems to work...

    Any ideas?

  • Nokia 5300 Xpress Music: Questions about ring tones/alerts?

    1. Can I set up my phone to use the ring tone I have selected for a contact when they send me a text message? If so, how do I do that? If not, am I just stuck with the default messaging ring tone for all text (ugh, how boring is that Nokia)?

    2. Is there anyway I can make the phone vibrate and ring at the same time?

  • What's wrong with this pine tree?

What in the world has happened to this tree? It is next to 3 other pines, but this is the only with the problem. The holes start at the very bottom and go up pretty far, they are well formed and some even in straight lines. They are only about 1/4 inch deep. Some of the holes have caused tons of sap to seep out. Here are some images:

Is it infested with something? If so, what is it…should the tree be removed? If it’s disease will it spread?
