i've been offered a job as a receptionist at a funeral home?
I wanted to say yes - but when I went on the interview one of the people came out of their office and laughed at me. I was wearing the basic interview suit! Also, I was told in the interview that I could call different people for bathroom breaks and I'm used to that. In past receptionist jobs, I would smile ask how people where - have some fun, lively conversation. I can't do that at this job....what would you do?
5 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment9 years agoCoworkers pitched in to buy me a farewell gift. I didn't open the gift in front of everyone.?
Although I do appreciate the gift (necklace) - the coworkers (2 frenemies) who picked out the necklace are nagging me to wear it on my last day of work, should I wear it?

1 AnswerOther - Health1 decade agoAt work, I'm forced to ask a gossip and backstabber for help....?
in doing my new job at the office. I've been at this company for a few years. When I ask for help - she tries to trap me into gossip and asks me personal questions out of curiosity that are none of her business. I've just been put in a new position where there is no one to train me. My Office Manager has no idea what the person before me did in her daily responsiblities. HELP!!!!
2 AnswersAdministrative and Office Support1 decade agoHarrassing boss....................?
I had an opportunity to help out an affiliated building nextdoor for 1/2 days and was happy to do so! In helping out, I realized it was a more professional envir. (no one standing around gossiping and there was no boss with a big mouth who causes strife). Everyday I would come back from nextdoor very happy from the experience (not gloating) and my boss would harrass me.....asking me - Do you like it better over there?, Is it nicer?. After a whole month of her INTERROGATING me everyday I finally said "Yes, they're nicer!! - You want the truth, don't you?" I regret saying that because I didn't mean anything personally against my co-workers, but that my boss is unprofessional and creates a hostile environment. Bottom line is that she knows I want to work nextdoor and nextdoor wants me to work there, but my boss has put a stop to that and now words gotten out that I've shown partiality to another building. I also regret that behavior t because it's not a good example of being a Christian. Any advice? Thank you!
7 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoI have a receptionist job and my boss just got a new boss....?
she's asked me to "look busy". I asked her to give me work and she said in her way that "it's not her responsibility". I'm the sole breadwinner of my husband and myself for now. I want to make an honest living in a job that keeps me busy. This economy is horrible too. Any suggestions?
5 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment1 decade agoI was a secretary and had to take a boring receptionist job.....?
it took ALOT of adjusting. I'm thankful for being employed, but want a job where I can use my skills. My coworkers treated me bad until they found out that I wasn't going to be moving up at this job. Now they're as sweet as pie to me. How do I deal with them? I know I'm capable of so much more at a job.

Books for adults - not children. Thanks!

3 AnswersHobbies & Crafts1 decade agoI recently had my medical chart sent to my new doctor, but the new doctor just died....?
I don't feel comfortable with the new doctor that's replacing him because they're very inexperienced. Is it acceptable to find a new doctor all over again - would I just have to request my chart and cancel my appt.?
3 AnswersOther - Health1 decade agoAn old aquaintance that I only hung out with a few times....?
and have only emailed a few times a year asked me if I wanted to get together. I also remember her being negative and complaining when we did get together. She's been stressed lately about losing her job. After she asked me - I told her that I was going to be busy right on through the holidays. I had given her some good advice regarding finding a new job and also gave her some positive Scripture which she's going through this tough time. Though I realize I lacked a lot of tact in answering her. Could I have handled this differently or did I do the right thing?
1 AnswerFriends1 decade agoA coworker embarrassed me at an office Christmas party......?
My husband and I went to the party. After meeting Janice's husband, I went up to her and said "You're husband's a nice guy!"
(Something else you should know, but is irrelevant to me is that her husband and my husband work together. My husband is a temp for his company. Her husband is in a very high position) She then said......VERY LOUDLY......"ARE YOU TRYING TO SCORE POINTS FOR YOUR HUSBAND BECAUSE THEY WORK TOGETHER?! Then she proceeds to mock me screaming and smiling........
YOU MAKE ME LAUGH!!! ............I didn't say anything, just walked away mortified and shaking my head. How should I handle this person at work - is it best to ignore her??? Toxic things come out of her mouth often.
9 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoWe're having Secret Santa at work and I picked my bosses name out of a hat.....?
She's a woman and I like to crochet. The gift has to be $15. The gifts will be exchanged among everyone and I wanted to crochet her a scarf in her favorite color. Is this a good gift or bad and why?
5 AnswersChristmas1 decade agoWhenever my sister-in-law tries to insult me or say some rude comment to get under....?
my skin, I don't say anything, not only because kids are around, but my natural reaction would be to curse the person out (but I never do). Time after time (with anyone) I've kept quiet - and I hate it. Can you suggest any ways I can set someone straight the right way? Also, if there are any books out there that could help. Thanks.
3 AnswersFamily1 decade agoLunch question...Started a job a few months ago in small office. I ate lunch with a few...?
of the other women in a very small lunchroom and I found that one of them goes out of her way to make me feel uncomfortable each time (especially in front of other people), she'd speak in a derogatory tone to me and I thought this is no way to have lunch. I now pick up my lunch and bring it upstairs and also walk on my lunch hour. Now when I pick up my lunch, I catch her shooting looks at people and then looking at me! I used to work for big companies and everyone would do their own thing at lunch. Is this so taboo??

any person question she has like where I go to lunch, why don't I eat with the others, what I do on my days off, etc? I like to converse with people, it's just that some people ask in a rude, nosy manner. How should I handle this person?
