I am researching to buy either a 500mm f/6.3 or a 800mm f/8. B & H is offering both lenses from Bower, Phoenix & Vivitar and are $20 different between these 3 makes within the models.

I would like to get some advice from experts and users who use one or all 3 makes, which make is better choice and should I go for 500mm or 800mm? why?

I do have a 300mm f/2.8 already, and is looking to add a longer range lens just to bring thing in closer in one of those rare situation (i.e. the Beaver at the far side of the lake or the Bald Eagle on the tree top etc).

I know that I can use Tele-converter but it cause twice as much as a mirror lens which is not a cost-effective solution to me.

I am also aware all the shortfalls of mirror lens and is foreseeing to shoot mostly in bright sunny day with a monopod or a tripod.

As we know, netbooks are basically share the same hardware spec. I try both and like both equally. Since both models claim to last up to 9hrs and are less then $25 apart, I am having a tough time decide which model to buy.

If you were me which one you will choose and why?

Nikon P80 vs. Olympus SP570 UZ vs. Fuji S8000fd vs. Panasonic DMC-FZ18

Any other 18+ x mega zoom that I should consider?

I been setting the volume to the MAX already but the ring volume still way to low to my liking. As a result, I been missing like crazy. Is there a way to go into the internal setting to increase the ring volume?
