I am a mom, wife and hobby breeder. I have been married 25 years and have a 22 y/o son and I have been breeding dogs since I was 19, and also helped my dad breed hounds before that while growing up. And soon my son and his gf are going to make me a grandma for the first time :-) (updated 6/2011) We have always had several dogs, growing up and now as an adult. I am 47 so you do the math;-) I love dogs, all kinds. Sometimes they are better than being around people..lol

  • back up and moving using an external hard drive?

I have a computer that I believe is about to go out and i wanted to back up all my programs and email, and data, etc.. I tried but my CD burner is not functioning properly and will not let me back anything onto a CD...

So I thought about getting a portable CD drive and started looking for info.. I came along external hard drives.

Can I back up my currents computer HD to an external without backing up the Windows program itself, and then transfer to a new hard drive (with windows 7 installed) using the external HD?

I hope this makes sense and I hope someone can help. I have had the HD in this computer go out once and I lost everything and I cannot go through that again... (Dell did replace the HD at no cost). I have very little knowledge about these kinds of things

    Sincerely,

    Karla
