  • Can (physically)broken hard drive be accessed?

My wife's hard drive has two of the four prongs in the portal bent. She tried to bend one but it broke. Is there any way of accessing it since the plug won't fit in? Can it somehow for example be Bluetoothed? The hard drive itslef is intact it's just that she can't plug in to do anything. Much appreciated ( and ten points) if there's a way of accessingit!

  • Mind reading trick - think of a number?

A friend of mine went to a show by a magician. He asked my friend to think of a number ( don't know if he said any number of digits). The magician then wrote something down and asked my friend to say what it was. Of course, he turned the card around and it was correct. How did he do it? There wasn't time for him to write it down or change it? Much obliged. Hope it doesn't break the magician's code!

  • Kimi to return to Ferrari in 2014. Good move?

It's official! Will Kimi and Fernando work together or will there be a clash of egos? Can't see Kimi regarding himself as a number two driver or will they be considered equal number ones?

  • Would an encryption qualification help me to get back into IT?

I have MCP and A+ qualifications but have been out of the industry for ten years. Would something like an Encryption <or Decryption> qualification help me to get back in or is there something else that is in demand? I can't afford the money or time to go to University so it would probably have to be an online course. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • <sloshing sound in my car>?

Occasionally when I start my car, I get what sounds like a sloshing sound either behind the dashboard or - more likely - in the engine bay. I'm thinking it must be a fluid ( obviously) but could it be coolant or something from the air-conditioning? It's not very loud but noticeable if you point it out. It's a Subaru Legacy ( Liberty here in Australia). Any ideas?. Also, you can sometimes hear it if you're turning out of a car park ( slow speeds). No, I haven't started it up and looked in the engine bay. Thanks in advance.

  • <if you sell an app to Apple and it is sold for 99 cents, what share would you get?

Just saw a show which talked about how much you can make if you create a popular app. I know they're talking about the exception rather than the rule, but if you get Apple to market your app for 99 cents, how much would Apple keep and how much would you get? Also, can you give me an idea how much it would cost to get an idea to the finished stage if you only come up with the idea? Are we taking hundreds or thousands of dollars or more? Many thanks.

  • " How did Daniel Ricciardo do in his debut race?

I know he finished 19th ( and last) but were there any comments from the teams, commentators, etc about his drive? I thought he probably wanted to play it (extremely) safe and bring it home in one piece but it looked like he was losing 10 or more seconds per lap in the closing stages. EDIT - Actually, I've just checked and apparently he was struggling with his rear tyres! Any thoughts about who will win in Germany?

  • Name of a show in the 60s or 70s about a person who had a special blood?

The show had an ordinary person who donated blood. Some old, rich person who I think was near death got it and regained his health. Of course, the effect was only temporary and so they ended up pursuing this guy so he could be kept as a prisoner to give him blood transfusions. I know it sounds bizarre but I can't think of the name. I've got an idea that it had a theme song which might have had lyrics of "Run Joey run" but maybe not. Any ideas?

  • How will Daniel Ricciardo perform this weekend for Hispania?

I may be biased as I'm Australian but reports say that he is a future star and has done very well in the past in other formulae. I guess HRT isn't likely to get in the points ( barring something bizarre happening) but he might acquit himself well. Any thoughts?

  • Can a meeting be labelled confidential two days after it was held?

I had my yearly review at work on a Wednesday. On Friday, my supervisor said that he had heard people discussing some of the things we'd talked about. He said that I couldn't discuss anything because it was a confidential meeting. I thought for a meeting to be confidential, it had to be agreed to by all parties prior to the meeting. Surely it can't be deemed to be confidential by just one party two days after it was held? Incidentally, the new manager ( above him) seems to have this policy of not saying anything to anyone about anything! Morale is not good!

  • Windows validation question?

My wife is a teacher and bought an old PC from school with Genuine Microsoft installed. We had a problem with a virus and so our son 'fixed"it. I think he might have had to install a pirate copy of XP because he had to wipe everything. Now, about a year later, we have a message saying " You may be a victim of software counterfeiting". "Did not pass validation". Is there any way of removing this? The pop-up stays there. I've run Mal ware bytes and Norton and it seems to be a genuine message. Incidentally, the wallpaper has reverted to black which makes me suspicious. I've heard the running security updates from Microsoft can install these counterfeiting checks. Is that true? Any help would be appreciated. :-)

  • Norton scan then "Scan stopped by user" ? Also Antivirus XP 2008

I've got a virus of some sort. My wallpaper disappeared then a warning saying "you have a virus -install anti virus software" appeared. There was no link to the usual bogus site though. When I started a Norton scan , it stopped about 15 mins through saying 'Scan stopped by user". I then got what looked like an old DOS screen saying to reboot. Edit - I now have Antivirus XP 2008 installed and I can't uninstall! Any ideas? thanks!

  • Has anyone been to Belle Epoque Brisbane recently?

I've heard some good reports and some not so good reports about Belle Epoque. I've just been told that there was a change in chefs too. Can anyone tell me what it is like? My wife and I want to go there to sample authentic French cuisine. We're going to France next month so we want to get an idea of what it would be like. Thanks very much.

  • Taking suitcases on TGV from Nice to Paris?

    Hello,

My wife and I will be taking the TGV from Nice to Paris in May. From what I can see on the Net, there are luggage racks at the back of the carriage for suitcases and overhead racks for smaller bags. Is that correct? Is there enought room for two suitcases? We're going First Class, if that makes a difference to the layout . I'm not paying for the trip, by the way. I won it in a competition. :-) Thank you!

  • Monaco Grand Prix grandstands - lettering of stands?

We're going to Monaco in May. The stands we're looking at say that they would be Row A but are they lettered with A being at the bottom or the top of the Grandstand? So would we be at track level ( in which case we won't see the pits) or high up in the stands? Thanks. Hope to see you there!

I'm an Australian citizen on an Australian passport. I'm not sure if I need a visa to enter Singapore. I'll probably be in Singapore airport for about four hours between flights from Europe. Can I leave the airport and go into the city?Obviously if I do need a visa then I couldn't enter while in transit but if I don't need one, can I leave the airport for a few hours? Thanks!
