Does anyone know about the availability of parking near the House of Blues venue in Dallas, TX?

Free lots, pay lots, and cost estimates most appreciated.

  • How I met your mother?

There was a syndicated episode last night. The plot, is I remember correctly had to do with Marshall and Lily visiting a fertility specialist.

Now I watch TV very casually, most of the time I am not really paying attention. But I kept noticing that they had numbers featuring prominently on wine bottles, beer cans, and in other prominently displayed locations.

The numbers were meant to have some meaning? what was it?

  • Why do athletes tap the bottoms of their shoes?

I saw a volleyball player do this last year. It seemed that as a play was being set up, she would lift one foot, tap the sole of the shoe and repeat with the other foot. Yesterday I saw a male basketball player do the same thing on a highlight video. Can anyone explain why it is done?

  • The Might be Giants TV work?

I just discovered that They Might Be Giants wrote an performed about 15 different Dunkin Donuts commercials.

Now I hear the theme song from a Saturday morning cartoon called "Dino Squad" and I think I recognize the style and voices...

Did TMBG write and perform the theme for "Dino Squad"?

  • Douglas Adams "HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy"?

Is HHGTG simply an adaptation of "The Wizard of Oz?"

I can spot many elements that seem parallel. The "yellow brick road" translates into the startship "Heart of Gold", for example.

The Tin Man morphs into "Marvin the Paranoid Android" (He's not looking for a heart, he just want to get replacements for the diodes down his left side...)

Aurthur dent plays Dorothy's role (just wants to go home)

Trillian is the opposite of the scarecrow. She's got a degree in Astrophysics, but can't find a job. (she was "on the dole" on Earth)

Of course Zaphod also plays the part of the scarecrow. He seeks knowkledge about the true ruler of the galaxy.

Does anyone see any other parallels to OZ?

  • Online "Inheritance" Scams?

Does anyone know an email address for the FBI or another investigating agency to whom I can forward these scam e-mails?

You know the ones. The claim to be the executor of some multi-million dollar estate, and want to name the recipient as the next-of-kin and wire the money... blah blah blah.

Its really an identity theft scam, and I'm tired of seeing it. I the Postmaster General or the FBI to go after these people. Any ideas where to send the evidence?

  • Venture Brothers?

Where oh where has this show gone? Cartoon Network can slap together some really rotten shows when they want to, but Venture Brothers was hilarious.

They can hammer us with endless repeats of "Family Guy", and unfunny junk like "Tom Goes to the Mayor"... Why are they holding back the good stuff?

  • A serious question about Rowling's "Dumbledore" pronouncement...?

I am wondering if there is a predilection of Female fiction writers to feminize the strong, male characters in their books.

Rowling announced that she wrote her strongest grown-up male character as a gay man with a secret past.

Does this suggest a tendency to deny that strong heroic men can exist? By adding a gay subtext, is she admitting to a belief that straight men are dangerous or harmful?

Whether or not you agree with this concept...

Do you think that there are other examples of women writers seeking to feminize their strongest male characters? If so, who are they?

I always thought she was beautiful, and I still have several of her songs on my iPod.

  • Secret warplane "Aurora"?

I've been hearing stories about a new "black project" military craft that will supposedly fast enough to cross the Atlantic ocean in a half hour.

But the rumors, magazine articles, and televison speculations have been going on for years...

Does anyone have any links to more information, including any kind of verification of whether the project really exists?

Remember-- The stealth planes were well kept secrets and denied by the government up until the day we used them in war.

  • Umberto Eco's novel "The Name of the Rose"?

I read this novel after attending a University lecture comparing three "high concept" literary novels to storytelling in the pulp-detective genre.

But I never found out what the last line of the book meant... Its a phrase in Latin, possibly a quote from a medival author or manuscript.

    It is:

"Stat Rosa pristina nomine, nomina nuda tenemus"

Anybody know what it meant AND how it connects to the story Eco told?

  • Television series "Burn Notice"?

After the season finale, I'm annoyed that we'll have a 9 month or longer wait for new episodes. Does anyone know why the cable networks build such long periods between seasons?

I'm likely to forget what interested me about this show by the time it returns.

And its same with other shows like "Monk" and "Battlestar Galeactica"

  • Futurama Question?

Several episodes of this cartoon feature Amy Wong "cursing" or otherwise telling someone off in Chinese (or Japanese, I suppose). I'd like to know exactly what she is saying. Both the exact words PLUS the translation to English. It may just be gibberish, but I'm betting the producers knew what they were up to and used real words.

  • When is a question not a question...?

Is there anyone else in this forum who's sick to death of the Hate-filled rhetorical questions designed just to rile people up?

    Examples:

    Pro-choice vs. Pro-life

    Religion vs. evolution

    race-baiting

Calling members of one political party or another "Nazi's", "Communists", or "Satan-worshippers".

Why would someone post such junk unless it is simply to inflame and agitate others? Shouldn't civility play a part in keeping this forum from becoming just another ugly "flame" war?

  • Can Phone company "Technicians" wiretap phones?

I have a co worker who swears that her significant other routinely "taps" her phone and listens in on her phone calls. She thinks its a jealousy/possessiveness issue and believes she hears a "click" noise when he is tapping her line.

She is something of a drama queen, so I want to know if she could be right?

Phone company workers... Do you know anyone who taps phone lines for personal reasons? If it happens, why are the perpetrators never caught and prosecuted?
