  • What kind of story do Indian films like this mean?

Whenever I do channel browsing I come across some Indian movie or TV program that shows Indian men typically dressed like gods (?) -- with all that golden earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. Plus they are wearing headdress and something that looks like a skirt. Please can anyone tell me what kind of story they are telling? I am very curious. Sample clip is at the 2:00 mark in the Youtube vid below.

  • What should I do? I think a family member stole from me twice already. I feel so hurt.?

I live alone in a studio and occasionally have my niece (who is 20 years old-6 years younger than I am) come over for a few days. I notice that because perhaps she wants to help out with the little mess (like a stack of paper and bills), she cleans up the entire place without me knowing it until I come home from work. I told her she didn't need to do that but she always insists.

The last time she visited, I lost my ring. It was just in my drawer (always unlocked) because who else is at home? Just me and her. It was my Mom's gift to me. That day she suddenly just sent me an SMS telling that she had to go because she had to take care of some things. When I came home, my ring was nowhere to be found. But I never told her or anybody else..

Now, just several days ago... she stayed for a few days to rest. And then during her last day, she washed all my laundry (again, without me asking her to do it). When I came home, I checked my wallet inside my drawer and could not find the $80 I left there for several weeks. $80 here in my country is not small change....

I feel so hurt because I don't want to believe that it was her.. But who else would do it???

I even gave her some gift certificates and some money for travel but what did she do in return?

I sent her an SMS message to ask if she "cleaned" out my drawer but she said she didn't.

I really can't trust her anymore. What hurts is that I love her as my eldest niece.

She has this low self-esteem as she didn't do well in school and has no job yet. She has a very sensitive personality. Their family does not lack anything. Whatever she needs, they provide. I give her gifts. My sister gives her gifts. In short, she's not poor or anything like that.

I don't know how else I can confront her since she is my brother's daughter.

My mom already knows before that she sometimes takes things without permission and she already knows I lost the ring. I can't tell my Mom what happened this time because I'm afraid it would make her worry more. I feel so alone and I don't know what to do.

Sorry for the very long story... I'm just sad. :(

  • How do you deal with a colleague who always needs to be spoon-fed at work?

Being seated next to someone who bugs your supervisor all the time over things big and small (some already discussed before) is not really a pleasant experience... What do you guys do about it?

  • Can't create a bokeh using Sony a200 dslr?

Hi. I've been trying to take shots of light at night to create a bokeh.

So I put the setting to Aperture priority (also Manual), and set the camera to MANUAL focus.

However, the flash setting cannot be put to WITHOUT flash.

So in the end, I always end up shooting with flash. I can't get the bokeh effect I want.. :(

    Please help!

  • What size filter / lens hood should I use for my Sony a200 with the 18-70 kit lens?

I bought a second-hand Sony a200 at ebay USA (I'm here in Asia) and forgot about purchasing lens hood. Now, I plan to buy a generic lens hood (and even a body cap and some filters) but don't know which size is right. Please help?

It is to be used with the kitlens (18-70 mm) that came with the camera.

    Thanks.

  • I cried the whole night and don't want to go to work anymore. What should I do?

I've been one of the pioneers of our team and has been doing the job for 5 years now. My current boss (who just came in more than a year ago) is very insensitive, tactless and jumps into conclusions. She has never gained trust from the team. We've have several episodes of misunderstanding and I get a little teary-eyed because of that. After that, she is her usual laughing-out-so-loud boisterous self in the office. I think she is doing it on purpose. I think she is out to get me. I am doing my job and she just throws feedbacks (some are legitimate) simply the wrong way.

Yesterday, she scolded me for the whole team to hear and see. Because I knew I did nothing wrong, I was teary-eyed when I was explaining my side. It's just too much to bear for me now. Most of the team really thinks she is rude. But I feel she has her eyes on me in a bad way now.

What should I do? I feel so miserable. I have several pending applications with other companies but I have no update yet. I'm not even sure if I can muster up confidence to go to an interview anymore. I was a high-performer and was always commended by my former boss. But now, I really really want to quit. I've thought of ending it all....

    Please advise..

  • How do I act confident in a job interview if I feel I am underqualified for the position?

I've been working as a trainer in the team for more than a year now. Aside from that, I was an instructor in college for one semester.

Now, I got a call from a call center company about an opening for a Communications Training Program Manager position.

The position will entail creating manuals and leading a team of trainers.

In my current position, I am able to work autonomously and work on creating manuals (without any professional certification) and facilitating new hire training and refresher sessions for the team.

Even if I feel I have contributed much to my team, I feel inadequate and ill-equipped for the position being offered at the other company.

How can I go through the interview with this issue in mind...?

I don't want to say that I feel that I am not qualified since I have some limited leadership experience. On the other hand, I do not want to let this opportunity just pass by easily.

Please, please advise! Tomorrow is my phone interview.

    Thanks!

  • Is it really possible to clear one's mind for a moment?

These days, I find myself being preoccupied about work (my quota, my mistakes, my colleagues, etc) when I wake up, during my commute, at work, after work, and before I go to sleep. It's not that I love or hate my work that much, but I find it hard to "empty" my mind once in a while.

For example, when I am in a taxi going somewhere, I can't

help but stare blankly and then sooner or later I realize I am stuck with the same thoughts.

I want a clear mind. Blank. Peaceful. Even for a moment.

    So what do you do?

  • for the doctors: how do you put your patients at ease before a rectal exam?

I'm having a rectal exam later during the day as part of the annual physical exam for the employees. This will be my first time to undergo a sort of, "invasive and uncomfortable" exam since I'm only 23 and have not really indulged in any mature activity.

I'm horrified at the thought of somebody else looking at some part of my body. As a doctor, how can you assure that it is a normal procedure so I won't be ashamed of showing my body?

  • I have lumps on back of my head - both sides - they're a little painful when touched. help!?

I've had these 1-2 inch lumps at the back of my head, beside the ears that would kinda swell a little bit and then go back to normal. (I've never bumped the back of my head)

But, since 2 days ago when I woke up, I found these lumps somewhat swollen and a bit painful to the touch. Right now, I can feel these lumps generate some pressure on my head and they make me feel uneasy.

Are these lumps serious? Can I go to a general physician first or do I consult a specialist?

  • how will i address my korean co-worker?

As an in-team trainer, I will be conducting the training for a Korean new hire. As I am 3 years younger than she is, how will I address her? Do I need to use ~ ㅂ니다 form everytime? Or will ~요 do? How do I call her name? ~~씨 or 김 양?

Having stayed in Korea before, I understand that Koreans place great importance on relationships i.e. seniority at work.

In this case, I have a higher position than her. But she is older than I am. So, which one should be followed?
