  • Heartrate changes with breathing?

I was lying in bed last night and could feel my pulse quite strongly in my head, this is quite normal for me, but I noticed that my pulse rate was quite slow but each time I breathed in, it sped up to nearly double the rate. When I let go of the breath naturally it fell back to the slow rate. I was breathing totally normally and was relaxed. Is this normal? Seemed strange!

  • Is this software site legal? How does it work?

I'm trying to find any recent version of full Photoshop for Mac, legally, cheap, and I found this site: http://download-journal.com/shop/item/276/

$99 is a bit too good to be true, perhaps, but how can they screw me?

    Any value to that?

  • How to access my documents from another PC?

My PC has messed up overnight. It says the system32\hal.dll file is missing or corrupt. If I put the XP (Home) disc in to repair the fault, the Setup utility scans everything, loads itself up and then cuts the keyboard off so I can't press 'R' to repair! I've tried other keyboards.

I have taken the hard drive out and connected it via USB to my laptop. It works fine except I cannot access my documents, because they are within my Windows account. Is there any way of accessing them? Obviously I know the password to my windows account, just don't know how to get into the documents from another computer!

If I can do this, then I'll grab the stuff off and then format the drive.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Extra Thin Ice Strips?

I need some for medical reasons (hard to choke on them) - does anyone know if they still exist, or if there's anything like them? I know listerine did something similar for a while but I can't find anything like it!

    Thanks in advance!

  • Do I have to pay tax on sideline earnings?

Hi. I'm looking into taking assignments as a mystery shopper further to my full time job. In the terms it says: "Please consult a tax advisor regarding allowable deductions and tax payment." Can you explain to me what I'd have to do to stay legal? I am not expecting to make much money from this, perhaps £10-£30 a month.

  • Is my car's new CV joint knackered or just bedding in?

I was getting a knocking on relatively tight right hand turns at all speeds, diagnosed the CV joint. Took it to a garage this morning, they agreed and replaced it. I picked it up, they told me it might knock a couple of times whilst the grease works through the joint. Turns out it knocks almost as badly as before. Have I been stitched? Or is this 'grease working through' thing possible? Done about 30 miles with the new joint.

    Thanks in advance

  • Blackpool, PRE-illuminations?

Blackpool illuminations are due to start on 29th August this year.

Does anyone know what the promenade or other areas look like at the moment, at night time? I expect there are at least some lights, something interesting to see. Does anyone have any photos of a typical night in Blackpool?!

    Thank you!

  • Alternative to pressing 'Print Screen' in Windows?

I use a mac keyboard on my PC (I switch all peripherals between a mac and a PC, and the mac won't work with my PC keyboard).

The only bad thing about using a Mac keyboard with PC is the lack of a print screen button! Can I program a shortcut to take a screenshot? I've looked at key sequencer programming on the internet but I'm getting nowhere. I'd like to program as: SHIFT + WIN + 3.

    Thanks!

  • LCD Monitor mounting converter?

Hi all... I have an LCD monitor desk mount with a square hole spacing of 75 x 75 mm AND 100 x 100 mm (currently using the 100 x 100 mm holes), but the monitor I want to buy uses 200 x 100 mm spacing.

I want to keep the existing desk mount if possible, as it is very good quality, and took me ages to find so cheap. Is there some sort of converter I can get, to enable it to support the new monitor? I'm struggling to find such a thing!

    Thanks in advance.

  • What's the best way of downloading and running Day of the Tentacle on my Mac with OSX Tiger?

I want to download it for free (it's 15 years old and I own the PC version anyway..!), and run it on my intel Mac, running OSX 10.4.

  • How do I rename computer folders without being able to see them?

    Hi

I have an external hard drive with many folders on, but the folder names have characters that a PC cannot understand. It was encrypted, we decrypted it but the folders are still not recognisable. I can take the root folder and copy it to my local disk, but I still can't see the folders within the root when it's copied - does anyone have any suggestions? All good ideas are very welcome.

    Thanks so much in advance.

  • Swollen incisive foramen in my upper jaw?

    Keeping it brief.. see picture:

    http://i32.tinypic.com/314v7ki.jpg

I believe acid reflux has caused this.. dried bits around the swollen incisive foramen (God bless google).. what do we think? Have been taking pills to calm the stomach/acid down.. they are working, as of two days ago. My front teeth hurt like heck, and this foramen thing feels like a leech. Fat, soft, supple, smooth, shiny.. nice. Somewhat painful.

    Thoughts much appreciated! Thanks.

  • How should I cure my dog of unrest on windy nights?

I have a 4 or 5 year old dog, who is quite attached to me more than anyone else in the family. She doesn't mind noises outside such as fireworks, but she hates the noise of the wind. She barely sleeps on windy nights and brutishly forces me awake to comfort her. Has anyone else had to deal with this situation? If so, have you found any workable solutions? I've found that keeping the radio on quietly can help her a fair amount, but then I don't sleep as well!

I look forward to reading suggestions. Thank you.

  • How do we encourage beard hair growth?

I'm 24, and would love to grow a bit of a beard, but I don't have enough hair follicles to grow anything serious.

Does anyone have any tips for encouraging the hair to grow? I tend to wet shave, which I reckon will help speed things up, as it catches all the tiny bum fluff hairs and turns them into men.

    Any thoughts?

  • How can I disable the anti-theft armour of my Sony VCR?

It's a Sony SLV-E730 VCR, and I recently moved it from one room to another, and now it won't power up. I believe the anti-theft system has locked it. I can't find the manual, not much info on the net either.. what do you think?

    Thanks

  • Two computers, one external hard drive?

I think the answer to this is 'NO'.. however.

The Western Digital my book pro has 3 interfaces.. http://tinyurl.com/ynkhz7

I'd like to hook it up to two computers at the same time, using firewire 400 to one and 800 to the other PC. Is this possible, or would it not work/damage the HD?

Ideally I'd get a NAS drive but I bought one recently and it just doesn't cooperate with my router at all. Real shame because NAS drives are so excellent and would solve this problem. Hard times!

    Thanks in advance.

  • Build-up of blood in one foot?

My left foot started feeling strange about a week ago, and the feeling has grown more defined and more intense every day since. I can feel blood building up, in the middle, centre area of it. It builds up and up over the space of ten seconds, then the pressure is quite intense and verging on painful, then the blood seems to surge out and get through whatever the blockage was, and it feels normal again.

Spoke to NHS direct this morning and they were useless.

It eases when I lie down or elevate the foot. I'm not stressed, don't have a history of high blood pressure, but do have bits of cartilage floating about in my knees (apparently), which causes my legs to go a bit dead sometimes. I'm wondering if it's the same problem? I haven't injured the foot at all. Early 20s.

    Thanks
