  • why does it seem most people don't read the full questions posted here, just the bold part?

it seems that nobody is reading my full question which for the most part is in the details section because there's not enough room in the main part to ask the full question. people seem to only read the bold question and answer based on that alone and their answers have NOTHING to do with the question I asked. why can't people read before they type and look like an idiot on their answers? (please read this before answering...)

  • why does Yahoo Answers often miscategorize questions' statuses?

for example when I am looking through questions that are supposed to be "open" there are a lot that are either closed or deleted and some are in voting. what I really don't get is why do they list questions still that have been deleted. a lot of them are several years old some several months old but they're still listed in the "open" or "in voting" categories same with questions that were in voting at one point in time but not now that are still listed as "in voting"

  • does anyone have the legal right to tell you to take your hat off?

in the US, in any state or in any city in America, does ANYONE have the legal right to order you to take your hat off? military doesn't count because there's uniform regulations and all that but if I were to wear a hat everywhere I go, would I be legally forced to take it off or would any attempt to forcibly remove my hat or me BECAUSE of my hat be illegal?

  • Windows Live mail isn't working, won't load my messages and keeps giving me error. help?

please don't give me a link saying "you can find the answer here" I just want a simple straight answer. I get error code 5102 and error ID 0x8DE20003

I have two windows live/hotmail accounts and one of them worked for the past 2 years or so up until about mid october, then the other one I didn't get until november and it has never worked on windows live mail. I go online and both work just fine but at the moment I have both accounts forwarding to my att.net account because I can receive those on my iPod (and the windows live/hotmail accounts wouldn't work there either) I just feel it was much easier to log in to Windows Live Messenger, which still works by the way, and whenever i receive an email it lets me know and I just click "inbox" and it takes me to my inbox instantly, now I have to log in through the web and it's a bit more inconvenient and because of that I don't check my email as often like I did when i was receiving notifications through Windows Live Messenger.

    any help??? please?

  • how safe is it to take a shower during a thunderstorm?

well as far as I can tell my house has never been struck by lightning nor has any of the houses on the block or trees or anything but obviously that doesn't eliminate the possibility that it could happen however my understanding is that a house when struck by lightning would have the same effect as a car (with the exception of the fact that a house is usually built of flammable materials and could, unlike a car, catch fire... but in terms of electricity...) where the rain and metal on the outside of the house would be where the electricity stays and that everything inside would be safe, that is unless the object, in this case the pipes and faucets, are directly in contact with the outside of the house where the electricity from the lightning would be at, however it's also my understanding that none of those pipes would be directly connected to the outside, and that any of those pipes would be connected via the ground... is my understanding of this accurate? or am I missing something? the point is that I just took a shower and halfway through my shower it started thundering and lightninging harder and harder throughout the course of my shower and there was a point at which there was a strike that was relatively close, that is within probably 5 miles or so where all the rest seemed to be much further away or up in the clouds so I was just wondering if I should keep on thinking that it's safe or is it important for me to not take showers during thunderstorms? I know that it's a safer bet to just not do it at all but like I said it didn't start lightninging until after I was in the shower so I'd just like to know just for my information. (or have the mythbusters not tested this yet?, lol...)

  • what's the logic behind washing fruit and veggies before eating them?

here's the thing, the usual reasoning behind washing fruits and vegetables is to get rid of the pesticides... the thing about that though is that logically it's pointless to wash the fruit and vegetable as there are two possibilities: 1) the pesticides are water soluble which means they'd wash off the fruit and vegetable easily but probably won't be on the fruit when you are about to eat it because rain would wash it away or when they water the fruits and veggies it would wash away. 2) the pesticides are not water soluble therefore washing them with just water is pointless because it wouldn't wash any of them away... just curious as to any ideas about this.

  • Where can I find good windows 7 themes?

I have been googling my butt off looking for good Windows 7 themes, specifically for Torchwood and Doctor Who but I've wound up asking here if anyone knows of any. I would prefer a complete one with sound effects but would settle for one without.

I was gone all week without internet or tv access and so I wanted to see how the results of the All Star voting went and Pujols apparently wasn't on the list. Why? he's off the disabled list, he can play... did he not get the most votes? last time I heard he had the most votes... what happened?

  • Why does "end task" not end the task?

if a program is "not responding" then it asks if you want to end the task or wait, so why is it that when I click "end task" it thinks I mean wait? I can't remember a single time that "end task" actually ended a task... also, why is it that when I try to shut down (after end task fails and my computer is all stalled up) it sits and waits for each program to shut itself down instead of shutting them down automatically before shutdown?

  • why is Bengie Molina getting a ring "no matter what"?

I keep seeing stories around that say that Bengie Molina, no matter which team wins the world series, will get a ring... but none of them explain why... just because he was a part of both teams during the season? that makes no sense... if the Giants win, then he will not have contributed to their championship so why would he get a ring from them?

  • A game I have keeps saying "you must have administrative privelages to run this program" but I am the admin?

I am the admin on my computer, in fact it's the ONLY account on my computer yet it keeps saying that... now I know that to get around that I have to right-click and click "run as administrator" but the question is how do I get around THAT so that I can run it just by left-clicking once and not having it complain that I don't have administrator priveleges?

  • My Laptop's DVD player will only play CDs now... any help?

It's a relatively new laptop, bought in March. HP dv6-2190us with windows 7, up until the past few days (which I was on vacation and did not have internet access until today) I have been trying to watch DVDs on my computer only to have it simply not be able to read them. The disk drive spins and acts like it's attempting to read the disk but eventually it ejects the disk and says "Please insert a disk...etc." but when I use a CD in the disk drive, it works fine no problems. I do not know what the deal is, I doubt that it simply "needs to be cleaned" as I would assume that if it did then it would also not be able to read CDs as well, so I'm looking for what could have possibly caused this and how to fix it? Would I need to take it in to the store and have it looked at or can I simply fix this myself?

  • All Star Game/Trading question.?

Hypothetically speaking of course, what would happen if a player was voted onto the All Star team, or selected (if he's a pitcher) but was traded to a team in the opposite league between the time that the All Star roster is announced and the All Star Game itself is played? would he be able to represent the team that he was voted on or would he be forced to not play or what? I'm just curious because there's so much talk about trading going on right now and the All Star Game is coming up and it's doubtful that a team would trade away an All Star now, but crazy things happen and I just want to know what options there are for a situation such as this.

  • I've been having trouble with my iPod since iOS 4, anyone else?

I've been having the most trouble with the wi-fi cutting in and out and it had never done that to me before until iOS 4 was installed, is this a common problem and is there a way to fix it? Also, my battery seems to be draining much faster than ever now especially when it's in sleep mode, is this also a common problem and if so is there a way to fix it?

  • does anyone know why the iPod OS 4 is not updating?

I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, probably they are, so I thought i'd ask because I have an iPod Touch 3G and I've been checking for updates all day but it keeps saying that 3.1.3 is the latest version. are they having problems with it or do I have to do something special that I don't know about?

  • does anyone know at what point in the story does Deathly Hallows part 1 end and part 2 begin?

I'm just curious because everywhere I've searched online treats both films as if they're the same and does not say where the first one ends off and the second one picks up... so if anyone knows, I would like to know as well.

  • How do I set VLC media player as my default?

I just got Windows 7 about 2 months ago and at first I was able to set it as the default media player but I changed it (for whatever reason, I can't remember) and now every time I try to open a video file (.avi) I try to click "Open With..." and then on the list VLC doesn't show up and then I click "Browse..." and I go to program files and choose VLC.exe and click it, but it still doesn't show up in the list... It's like it doesn't even recognize that it exists... but I can still open VLC manually and open the file that way... I just want to be able to open a file in VLC via the double click...

  • Is there a reason why they scored it a "Blown Save" for Ryan Franklin tonight?

Ok so he came into the game in the bottom of the eighth with 2 outs but he gave up the tying run with a wild pitch and they gave him a blown save... it wasn't a save situation so how could he have blown the save? True though that had he continued into the ninth with the lead that he eventually would have gotten the save had they won it 3-2 or 4-2 (with Molina's RBI) but it would only have counted as a blown save if he had given up the tying run in the 9th when it would have been a save situation... am I correct? I mean as far as I know, it would be a "blown hold" if there were such a stat, right? even if he wouldn't get the hold as he would have gotten the save?

  • Cardinals fans... How do I buy the $5 tickets for next week's games?

because the Cards won 6 games out of 7 they took $5 off for each win for next week's games for the outfield loge tickets but every time I go to buy tickets on the site, it still says they're $35... so how do I buy the tickets at the discounted price? Or am I looking at the wrong games? I was pretty sure it was for the 2 games against Washington and the 2 games against Florida Marlins but I could be mistaken... May 17, 18, 19 and 20, right? anyway, appreciate any help!
