  • Cryptic crossword help?

OK, I'm doing the Daily Mail crossword from Tuesday, and there's one question I don't understand...

'Scottish king goes in for a short time to burn'. Six letter, I have _C_R_H - now I'm assuming the answer is 'Scorch' since it fits in with the burn bit of the question, but I don't understand how it fits in with the rest of the clue. Any help?

  • Speakers not working?

I've just had my computer repaired after the power supply unit broke down. Anyway, now I've got it back, everything is working fine except the speakers. There's only two plugs that come out of the speakers - a green one which plugs into the soundcard on the back of the computer, and a purple one that for the life of me I can't figure out where it goes. There aren't any sockets on the back of the machine that can accomodate this one, even if you unplugged something else. The green light doesn't come on the speakers, and it's not the soundcard that's broken since the monitors (crappier) speakers work fine when you plug them in. Computer is a Packard Bell, speakers are Diamond. Any suggestions?

  • How many different places can this occur?

From your starting point you walk south for one mile, then west for one mile, then north for one mile and thus arrive back at your starting point?

And I'll give you a clue - the answer is not 1.

  • Looking for Spanish Segunda Division archives?

For one reason or another (don't ask why), I'm looking for full tables of the Spanish Segunda division throughout its history (all the way back to and including the 1930's). Rsssf.com, which is usually quite good for stuff like this, has very little. Anyone know where I can find them?

  • Can anyone remember the name of this animation?

The details are a little sketchy but this has been driving me mad for a while now.

Basically it was a 1970's or 1980's straight-to-TV animated film (there were a ton of them back in the day) that was made here in the U.K. and was about as crude as you'd expect for the timeframe. There was a girl who runs away from home, or some malarky, and she gets kidnapped by these pirates who have a giant airship that they fly around in. And her brother, or friends, or something equally stupid rescues her and they all live happily ever after. Probably.

I also have a burning suspicion there may have been something to do with a treehouse in there as well, but I can't guarentee this.

Anyway, I don't need an essay for the answer, first one who gives me the correct answer that I can subsequently Google/Wiki to verify gets the points. And no, I didn't make up any of the above.
