1 AnswerOther - Computers1 decade agolooking for particular type of stencil / crafty thing?
I cannot remember what they are called - we used them when we were kids and now I would like to buy for my daughter. They were round stencils which had a groove around the edge, and holes inside. You would put your pencil in one of the holes and push the stencil around the edge of a kind of board, which matched up against those grooves, and a pattern on the paper, which was under the stencils, emerged - depending on the hole you used and the size or shape of the stencil. WHAT was this called?
1 AnswerHobbies & Crafts1 decade agoMake sense of my rights to British citizenship?
Can anyone help me here (my research has only further confused me). My husband and I, who were married in UK in 2000, have lived in an overseas country (not a UK territory) and have since had 3 children overseas. I am a British Citizen by descent through my father, but I did reside in UK for 3 years prior to my marriage, although there was a break of close to a month. My husband is a British Citizen due to the fact that both his parents are British Citizens from birth and that he was born and brought up in the UK until age 17. All my children were born after 2000. I have never applied for UK Citizenship for them before. My husband and I adopted dual citizenship but did not renounce our UK citizenship. My question is what TYPE of citizenship are they entitled to? Can I apply for Citizenship by other than descent or can they only be citizens by descent (the difference becoming pertinent when their children would like to apply for citizenship)? Thanks!

How do I get a listing of all the main banks in the US and their routing numbers (better know as bank numbers)? Also, how do I decipher the codes on a check when I am looking for Bank, Branch and Account numbers? Thanks!
1 AnswerOther - Business & Finance1 decade agohelp me choose the best camcorder....?
We just recently decided to buy a camcorder for home recording, and while I have done some research on line, I still am undecided as to what format I should buy.
I am looking for a small and handy cam, with image stabilisation and a good optical zoom (26-28x). I would like good picture and sound quality. I do not need gadgets or special effects and I dont need a still picture function. I obviously want something reliable, so I would need to go with a recognised brand and one which provides a good after sale service.
As for recording media (sigh). We have a Windows xp with a CD recorder and a DVD player (no record). I do not intend to do much editing but would like the option of deleting unwanted files. I want to be able to easily store (not necessarily on the PC) and view (no TV or video in my house) my videos, and am still unsure of which media to go for.
My budget is around $300.
Thank for your help on this one!
3 AnswersCamcorders1 decade agoSculpture's name?
I am looking for the name of the sculpturer who makes large but very accurate sculptures of humans. He recently had a display of an infant girl and a man on a chair, among others. I cannot remember what the art form is called, but it does have a specific name. Thanks!

3 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoCorrupt Adobe downloader?
I am attempting to Down load the Adobe Reader file. It automatically begins a dowload through the download manager. About halfway through, it tells me that my file is corrupt. I assume that it is a problem at my end, as this had been going on for a while now. Any ideas of how to get it to work or to download the reader successfully? (I have all requirements fulfilled)
1 AnswerSoftware1 decade agoWhy is being a stay at home mom such a stigma? Men, I'd like your honest opinions, too!?
Let me begin by saying that I am not a stay at home mom. Recently, my respect for stay at home moms has upped a few notches, as I began to work a half day instead of a full day. I used to think I was a great mom - coming home at 4pm and keeping the kids happy and entertained until bedtime at 7 is not such a great feat compared to coming home at 1pm, feeding them and then keeping them happy without loosing my sanity.
The fact is that staying at home is harder than going to work. You have to be super organised, super patient, creative, able to multi-task, energized and more! So why does the modern world still think that a woman who does not join the work force is "worth" less than a woman who does? Why are women themselves ashamed at being a stay at home mom?
Men, I would be interested in hearing from you as well...
16 AnswersParenting1 decade agoWhy are we more busy now than we were in recent years when we did not have time saving appliances handy?
I was reading the sleep depravation articles featured on theYahho home page, and the mention of the decrease of amount of sleep mentioned in the poll got me thinking. In recent years, laundry washing by hand was a norm, trasportation was slower, diswashers did not exist, disposables were not availbale. In the era of the faster machines, personal trasportation, disposables and an fast and easy access to the world (internet - on-line shopping, research etc), we somehow seem to be constantly running around in circles. We accomplish less, we stress more - and all of this without any relaxation time. What happened? Why are we so busy- and where did the time go?
1 AnswerCurrent Events1 decade agoDo you want to make Yahoo! Answers a better tool?
Yahoo! answers has so much potential as a tool for assistance and for reaching out to others for help and advice. I feel, though, that the people who would and could contribute to this site and help make it into the great place it could be are staying away for disgust at the endless pointless questions, or the questions where the grammar and spelling is so bad, that you can't even read it? How many of us have refrained from answering a question due to the stupid and senseless previous answers? How many people are tired of lazy users who dont post their questions in the correct category? How many times do you want to say "use the search button, please?"
I don't seek agreement here - I seek suggestions for how we, the users, can make it a better place for all. While the abuse reporting is a good feature, it is only useful if utilised properly (and it is not). I for one, would like to improve Yahoo! Answers - it as enormous potential!
6 AnswersYahoo Answers2 decades ago3.5 year old resitant to toilet training?
My 3.5 year old is a very stubborn, independant, obsessive child, who absolutely refuses to be toilet trained. He does not want to sit on the potty, even with clothes on, and with every bribe in the book. I try not to let him know that i am frustrated, but the school year is coming up soon, and they don't take kids who are still in diapers. I think he feels safe in his diapers - and I know that he really hates change. Any ideas?
